The Hotel Paisano is a small, charming hotel near the square in Marfa, TX. The cast from the movie "Giant" stayed here during filming. We loved the hotel lobby and courtyard. As we visited in Feb. the hotel had a great fire in a smaller room off the main lobby where we gathered and met other visitors. Our room was... More

This hotel was built in 1930's to anticipate the oil boom that never materialized. It is now serving the art lovers that are tracking the steps of Donald Judd who started an art colony in Marfa and his contemporaries who created important art installations there. It is built in a late Spanish style with well appointed lobby, grand sitting area... More

To be fair I will list the pros and cons. Pros: 1) The bathroom looked newly tiled. It had excellent lighting and plenty of hot water. (Even though there was a big crack in the sink.) 2) The toiletries were good. Cons: 1) Both my hip were sore from the springs in the mattress. It was the worst bed I... More

While the hotel was charming, at the 11th hour just before our reservation for dinner, the hostess knocked on our door and said due to electrical problems, the restaurant would be closed. I asked about the bar and she said that would also be closed. There didn't seem to be any imagination on the part of the staff to accommodate... More

This hotel is pretty inside and out and quite charming. The lobby is beautiful and the sitting area is well appointed with Texas inspired leather chairs and a huge fireplace. The courtyard is large and features a large fountain. A nice gathering area. The room was small but fine for two people. The bathroom was very small. No complaints except... More

Like many historic hotels, rooms can run small. Opt for a larger suite upstairs overlooking the courtyard. If you must stay in Marfa, We love this old hotel! It has a nice bar and it's own restaurant "Jetts" which we hear is very good! My only complaint was not being able to light our outdoor fireplace.

For me, this hotel is one of the few reasons to visit this town - no; I'm not a fan of the local art scene; but I guess others like it. It has heaps of charm & history; and nice staff. Rooms are comfortable, but bathrooms are VERY small. It has the only decent restaurant in town; but beware it's... More

I love this historic hotel, but it's time to shape up - competition is coming and I'm afraid the Paisano will suffer if they don't make the rooms more pleasant to be in. Can't change the bones and wouldn't want to, but: 1 - it's time to freshen up - our room was smelly. Either the no-smoking rule is not... More

I booked a mezzanine room for one night at $199. My reservation stated that I would get a room with a king size bed/suite and patio with fireplace. What I ended up getting was a king bed room with kitchen and patio (no fireplace). There is not a phone in the room nor a elevator at the hotel. They didn't... More

This place isn't for everybody. The rooms are small, the soundproofing not so good, the bathrooms are minuscule. But the building is fabulous, the public spaces delightful, and the location convenient to Marfa's major attractions. We loved it.
