We loved our stay at the Gage Hotel and would love to go back. The grounds were lovely, the room was really nice and comfortable, and the restaurant was good. If you are touring the Big Bend area, then don't miss a stay at this hotel. It is a mini vacation all by itself. We stayed in one of the... More

It is fantastic to have a hotel of this standard in a small town like Marathon. The rooms are historic, so are darker than a modern hotel, but the outside courtyard was wonderful. Ate at the restaurant every night, and food was very good as well. Good location from Big Bend NP, but shame it wasn't slightly closer.

The Gage Hotel is unique and very nice. We really enjoyed our stay. It is vey relaxing. The pool is beautiful, very clean with many nice areas to sit or lay out in the sun. Our room was very comfortable. The courtyard outside the rooms is very inviting and it was fun to sit outside and visit with other guests.... More

Very nice old hotel in BF, Texas. This little secret makes a great weekend romantic get away. Great home base for visiting Big Bend. Rustic rooms and nice patio for spring time cocktails. Arrive early enough for dinner. The restaurant might be the best kept secret in all of West Texas. The wine list is a little lacking, but the... More

We spent Memorial day weekend here this year. The dinners at 12 Gauge Restaurant were incredible, the light dinner we had at the White Bufflo and live music was terrific, but the best was the concierge service. Shelly was afraid that we might arrive too late for dinner and offered to have some box dinners waiting for us, which was... More

I was driving to Austin, needed anywhere really but what a great hotel this place is. Kinda remote, especially to a Londoner but its great from start to finish. Lovely courtyard rooms with tiled floors, great beds & showers. Across the freight track a lovely stand alone gym and the best steak I had all trip in the restaurant.

We stayed 2 nights in Marathon at the Gage Hotel, coming from Alpine, on our way to San Antonio. We had booked a room in the Historical hôtel but we found it very pretty (#14) but too small so we booked a room in Los Portales, as we wanted more space. It was 30$ more expensive (185$/night + taxes), but... More

I've heard about the Gage for years. It does not disappoint. We stayed in one of the Casitas away from the main hotel and were treated to an enormous bed, a screened in porch, a lovely courtyard view and our own television. Don't laugh, they aren't standard. Also since the Gage sits across the street from the train stop and... More

This hotel was recommended by a friend and I could not believe my eyes when I got there. A first class hotel, perfectly manicured, decorated perfectly and every detail attention paid, The staff friendly and kind. The coffee and tony muffins in the morning welcomed. I would tell everyone if you are anywhere near Marathon check in to this hotel.

This area of West Texas is absolutely beautiful and while the Gage is in the middle of a town with no stoplights, it is worth a stop whether you are driving through or staying here to go to Big Bend. That hotel is charming and quaint and the decor is just perfect. Also, I recommend going to the restaurant -... More
