You know the old saying, "you get what you pay for?" Well, we paid $242 per night recently and it was not worth it. This was the first time we visited Marathon. First, the walls in the portales rooms are paper thin; we could hear our neighbors and felt the need to whisper the whole time we were there. One... More

My husband and I stayed here one night and found it clean and attractive. Unfortunately, we had an incident that caused us great concern. Around 3am my husband woke up feeling sick with a cold so I called the frront desk to see if I could get him some hot tea. A recording said they were busy with other clients... More

The restaurant in the hotel is first class, especially for this region, but the price for a meal is not cheap. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasing. The steaks were well prepared and similar to something that a person would find in a large city. I have no complaints about the setting and quality of the food,... More

We stayed in the old part of the hotel that has been updated. I loved the old style and the room was extra large. The staff was helpful and friendly. FYI, we stayed in the front of the hotel and if you are sensitive to noise, you will want to stay further back. We could hear the train but it... More

This defines "get away". One of the best remote luxury hotels in Texas. And the gardens are a real surprise along with the multiple venues of rooms to choose from. Looking forward to a return visit when near Big Bend.

This was my first stay at the gage and will definitely not be that last!! Everything about the Gage was perfect. It was so unexpected to find such a great hotel in such a small West Texas town. Service was great and the rooms were wonderful. The hotel and the bar were great as well.

I first came to the Gage for a wedding, and couldn't stay away. The people, the vibe, the food and the amenities are all something special! For a gal who loves West Texas, road trips, Big Bend National Park, sunsets, rocking chairs, great food and a down-home atmosphere (without sacrificing on amenities or comfort), the Gage is this place for... This is my first (but not last) stay at the Gage Hotel. I'm staying in the historic hotel with a friend. While our 2 double beds do take up the majority of the room, there is still plenty of space for us to move around and unpack things. The bathroom is probably my favorite. Comfy robes, giant shower and beautiful... More

I love love love the Gage. Very cute hotel in the middle of no where for a quiet relaxing weekend. I've been quite a few times for weddings, New Year's Eve and for just a nice getaway. The hotel restaurant has amazing food and service and the White Buffalo bar has the best margaritas in TX! The grounds and rooms... More

Like most, we spent the day at Big Bend (excellent in itself!), and arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, about 3pm. Check in was swift, our room was ready. We stayed in the bungalows, which were very charming. The grounds were tidy, landscaping beautiful (even in November!), and room beautifully appointed. The rustic decor was perfect, and the room...
