Really cute motel with rustic furniture. Bathrooms are small but the shower was great, the towels were soft and they even provided make-up-remover. Friendly staff and awesome courtyard. Ok, you can hear the trains but that didn't really bothered us. The only things missing were a microwave and a little fridge.

We stayed here 1 night while passing through to Big Bend NP. The room was nicer than I had thought. The heater was strong and kept us way warm and comfy. The bathroom didn't heat up as well as the main room, but no biggie. We only heard the train once around 3:30 a.m. The front desk associate was very... More

Stayed over night on the way to Big Bend. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and warm, however, the windows leaked and didn't block the noise from the trains (3) - now I understand the ear plugs on the bed stand. The bathroom was completely disfunctional (2 ft by 10) - couldn't get from toilet to shower without walking sideways... More

Wow! We camped here the night before we drove down to Big Bend and it spoiled us for anything else. The next day, we were supposed to camp in Terlingua and were so appalled by the camping conditions there that we turned around and drove the two hours back to the Marathon Motel! Everything was clean, the bathrooms were heated,... More

It is a cheaper alternative to other Maraton venues I've stayed there many times over the years from the RV park to nearly all the rooms. It's not the holiday inn but it's clean and a fun place to stay. It was built in 1940 and it completely renovated Park right by your room. The office staff was friendly. Will... More

Staying at the Marathon Motel felt absolutely right for our road trip to Big Bend National Park. Nothing ostentatious; just perfect. Hard to describe, really. We had a tiny room with a standard-size bed. It was as if we'd returned to the cabins of the 1950's when our parents took us on road trips--the difference being that Marathon Motel has... More

With this being our first visit to Marathon we were unsure if we should stay at the Gage or not, but this place was definitely worth the stay. Friendly staff, clean rooms and a nice fireplace in the courtyard to hangout at night. The cabin rooms were small and simple and that just added to the mountain and Big Bend... More

While traveling through west Texas, we found this delightful motel. It was very clean and comfortable. The rooms are old cottages, probably from the 1950's, that have been renovated. It is a very unique place especially for star gazing.... The area is very dark. The only negative I found was the motel's proximity to an active train track... Other than... More

Stayed in one of the cabins there and it was outstanding . Comfortable beds and all the aminities . It was a short walk to restaurants . I would stay here again and recommend it to all. They have a nice common area for visiting and parties .

I was on a west Texas motorcycle tour and wanted to stay at the more well-known Gage Hotel. However, finding it booked, I chose the Marathon Motel. It was an unexpected good fortune. The motel is located just a few blocks from the center of town, and on the main highway. It has a variety of room accommodations, and is... More
