We loved this place. The courtyard and garden is amazing. The fireplace was going and we were able to setup and shoot night photos. The price was low and we stumbled across the place because some of the hotels in the area were booked full. Will stay again!

Great place to watch the stars (away from the "big city lights" of Marathon). Bring your telescope and set up on the pads in a dark area away from road and cabins. Or relax at the tables around the courtyard. Low cost, friendly and helpful people, clean and comfortable rooms.

Stayed here many times in the cabins. This is my "go to" place in Marathon. Cabins are nice (rustic), and the outdoor patio and fireplace are the place to be on a chilly evening. They supply the wood and fire-starting supplies, you supply the beverage and conversation with whoever fellow guests coming and going from Big Bend. On the review... More

One of the finest things about visiting the remote Big Bend region is to see the incredibly dark, star-filled sky at night. In fact the region is famous with amateur astronomers for being one of the finest spots to practice astronomy in the continental USA. I have tried many different options for lodging and astronomy in the area, and the... More

Have stayed here several times, fall and spring, after driving all day from Austin on I-10. What a nice surprise to find these renovated cabins, not sure the original vintage, but comfortably renovated (but not resort ***** swanky) , within walking distance to downtown Marathon (pop. 400!). Marathon is a great spot to enjoy the Big Bend: within easy driving... More

The staff was a life-saver on a recent motorcycle trip! Okay, more of a morale saver but genuinely kind-hearted. Was soaked and arrived late but the sweet gal working the counter took care of the room bill and even gave me a little food since everything was closed. This is a rustic Motel with quaint rooms that are clean with... More

My husband and I drove from Houston to Marathon. We decided to stay at the Marathon Motel before heading into Big Bend National Park the next day. What a wonderful surprise. This Motel is a little oasis in the middle of nowhere. Our room was the cleanest room we have ever stayed in (including 4-5 star hotels). We walked out... More

I will begin by saying this is my second time to stay at the Marathon Motel and my stay was very good. Your rooms are actually cabins that were very comfortable with plenty of space. I would suggest that as you make reservations, ask for a full-sized room; the rooms with just one double bed are smaller. The hotel does... More

Nice cabin for a few nights, price was okay for a remote location (85 $ incl. tax). Good shower and bed, free wifi, i.e. everything you need. Don't expect a large TV or other fancy stuff. Drive to the big bend headquarters is about 75 minutes.
