Rita and Carlos, the owners of Baia das Pedras receive you like family and make you feel like that during the entire stay. The food, the excursions and Rita's eye for all the wildlife makes it a perfect retreat for nature-lovers.The fazenda is also functioning as the fieldstation of two biologists and their teams, studying the giant armadillo and tapir.... Baia das Pedras is a perfectly managed, family owned vast farm where we had a chance to experience the complete scope of Pantanal: pastures, cowes and most of all amazing wild life at our feet and over our heads. Well trained horses were taking us for amazing hacks and the friendly hosts welcoming us back with delicious dinners. We went... More

First class all of the way. Incredible food. The rooms are spectacular. Amazing wildlife. I can find nothing negative to say about my experience at Baia das Pedras or our guide Luiz (he is the best and I recommend you request him if planning a visit). Rita (owns the ranch) is an incredible woman and makes you feel right at... More

If you're looking for an authentic (but yet very comfortable) way to experience the Pantanal, this place is it! Baia das Pedras is a working cattle ranch, and when you stay at the fazenda you feel like you're part of Carlos and Rita's family. You get to have meals with the family and learn all about the workings of the... More

Dona Rita and Don Carlos lay out the red carpet for guests. From private bathrooms, great food, a full set of daily activities and a beautiful home. They join us for meals to make us feel even more at home and part of the working ranch. The combination gave me the sense of being comfortable and in my own home,... More

It is not only a perfect place for nature lovers, there is something more that you rarely get.Rita and Carlos are special people which you do not meet every day. Kind, serene, generous, friendly and so on. In a few hours you feel already as at home. The house is beautiful, clean and you get excellent food. Rita is your... More

Rita, the owner of Baia das Pedras, collected us from our previous lodge and drove us on a wonderful three-hour journey to her Fazenda which, as others have said, is a working ranch. The house itself is beautifully decorated and furnished and the large dining room is the heart of it, both physically and gastronomically! The food was exquisite and... More

This traditionally managed Pantanal Fazenda offers an incredible wildlife experience, a wonderful opportunity to get to know the Pantanal and some of it's most notable characters and to relax in a lively and comforting social atmosphere that feels like the home of a beloved aunt. Rita, your host has an enviable knowledge of wildlife and can name the birds of... More

I booked through Brazil Nature Tours (BNT), who were flawless. The Fazenda does not have its own English speaking guides, so BNT supplied its own guide, Rodrigo (originally from Uruguay). First about the location: This is a working farm. You will see lots of cattle but the wildlife was spectacular. The birding here was incredible. Plenty of hyacinths and almost... More
