Went to Pelt Farm for a weekend away from the kids and hiking in Big Thicket. The farm is a beautiful place -pastoral and quiet. There are two rooms - the Lone Star (more like GOP) which we were in, and the French Country room. We are staunch democrats so we rolled our eyes and had a good laugh when we saw all the GOP Bush and Perry memorabilia on the walls - thank goodness this sad era in our history will be over soon. Other than that and the microwavable Jimmy Dean breakfast tacos, we absolutely loved our stay. The innkeeper has a great sense of style and the room did not come off as kitschy or tacky, but very classy in a Texas country sort of style. The guest rooms are away from the main home and there wasn't anyone in the French room, so we had plenty of privacy. The bed was so comfortable and I didn't want to get out of the big bathtub.
