Have camped there about 3 different times. We loved the peace and quiet and the beauty of the area. Huge Cypress trees line the Guadalupe River and there are picnic spots to enjoy the view. Best time to go would be in the Fall when it is cooler.

This has been the worst campsite we have had all summer and we had been on the road traveling for three months. We were given a campsite that has a pole lamp that shines in the TV all night long and the campsite is next to the dumpsters so this am very early they are emptying the dumpsters. Never stay... This is a beautiful, quiet place to stay. I stay here at least once or twice a year, spring and fall. I am a member of 'one of those motorcycle clubs' and in all my stays here (at least a dozen so far) I have yet to hear anyone revving their engines. Nor have I ever seen anyone driving in... More

We camped in our motorhome overlooking the Guadelupe River, surrounded by a natural setting. Lots of birders come here, also tent campers on the island. Plenty of places to hike around, very scenic setting on river. The couple who run it, and the owner's son, are really nice, welcoming, and great promoters of the Kerrville area. The bathrooms are a... More

I can't say that I had the honky-dory experience of the previous reviewers. My tent camping reservation by phone was good, when I arrived after 5 p.m. there was an envelope for me with my camping location marked "Hunter's Hollow." (Each of the tent camping spots is named rather than numbered.) That was the extent of my "good" experience with... More

Nice place on the Guadalupe River. Clean facilities and grounds. RV's are crammed into one part with tent camping on an island. There are only a few tent camping sites on a large island so we had room to spread out. You pay per person, per day which gets a little pricey for primitive camping. Don't go if rain is... More

We stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday. We came in after dark and there were some squatters in a tent on our site, so we moved to the next site over. When we woke up the next morning the scenery blew us away. The trees were changing colors and the hills were so vibrant. We walked up to the office... More

The first night of a long Texas road trip, and our first night ever in an RV, we pulled into the "By the River RV Park" well after hours. The office was closed, but our "welcome" letter was taped to the door, as promised. We easily found our spot and, as we were setting up on this freezing Texas night,... More

This was our first time to stay in this RV campground. We stayed 5 nights in our new 5th wheel, and enjoyed every minute of it. We had good shade, great strong wifi, good phone coverage, and it was so quiet! It didn't have concrete pads, but it was adequate and even more. Great location, and off the road far... More

My wife and I have stayed at many RV parks across the country and By The River is one of our top picks. It is not a big park, but very well maintained and the staff is as friendly as can be. Very quiet and more of a nature type of park.
