For four of us, this was our first visit to this piece of Texas history. Beautifully decorated building with lots of antiques and stories of hauntings by a number of different spirits. Upon arrival, however, we found that the hotel has a reputation for being haunted. Read the visitor log upon arrival for a number of "first-hand" experiences with the... More

My husband and I stayed there for our honeymoon and we also went back for our one year anniversary. We really like the history of Jefferson and we love that we could park there and walk where ever we want downtown. The restaurant is very good. Love the surroundings. Love it!

I took my wife and infant son for an overnight trip to Jefferson over Memorial Day weekend. Not wanting to deal with a B&B when it came to babies, we chose the Jefferson. We didn't get to try the Italian restaurant (dinner with friends on Saturday, and they closed early for a wedding on Sunday) but we'll try it next... More

We have now stayed at this historical hotel twice. Both visits were great. The restaurant downstairs has some great Italian food at a really great price. Be sure to take the ghost tour too. Lots of spooky fun.

Go with the right attitude and you’ll love this place. It has a rich history and is every bit as creaky and unusual as one would expect. I’d call the staff “rough around the edges” but terribly nice. The hotel is supposedly haunted and we were thrilled with “bumps in the night”… unexplained noises… or then again… easily explained considering... More

A friend and I went to the Jefferson Hotel. It was quiet and nice. We went for ghostly adventure and got a little but not much. The rooms are not giant rooms but we had plenty of space. Lots of old stuff along the hallway. They have an old telephone booth downstairs. Not for use . Just cool to look... More

We recently had a girls trip and stayed at the Jefferson Hotel....3 of us arrived Friday night and slept in the haunted room 19! We had several experiences in there...we slept in the bed (the famous one from room 14 and 12 that was moved in there!) with the TV on... One of my friends woke up to a bang... More

Everything in Jefferson is very relaxed and the hotel is no exception. If you want maid service, you have to put the sign on the outside of the door. Sometimes there is no one at the front desk. If you go there, go to relax. The rooms are OK -- some are nicer than others as we saw when we... More

I have stayed at the Jefferson many times. Sometimes to dabble with ghost hunting sometimes ust to relax. I have NEVER found this hotel dirty or unfriendly. The staff will go above and beyond to make sure you have a pleasant stay..To the folks gripping about the trains waking them up , that is not to hotel's fault. This hotel... More

Nothing about this place was inviting. The second we checked in the staff left. They told us that the front door would lock after 9:30pm, it was locked by 5. We left to go to dinner and when we got back the lock was broken and we couldn't get in. Luckily we found a way in through the back. We... More

Im sorry for your bad experience at our hotel! Anyone checking in on Sunday should always be told that we close-up at 4pm, which our website states the same. The Monday of your stay I was called and told of your complaint about the door and it just needed a battery replaced and it was proptly fixed that day. The... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
At a time when steamboats plied the Big Cypress River from New Orleans and true Southern gentility was the order of the day a stately structure, now known as the Jefferson Hotel, was built. Once used as a warehouse to store cotton, this lovely building changed hands numerous times. At the turn of the twentieth century it was transformed into a hotel and has served as a haven for weary travelers since that time. ... more   less
