Nice, historic feel with contemporary decor. My second stay with the first one being shortly after the name and ownership change. Sadly, the same problems persist: slow check-in, less than cordial staff, bulb out in bathroom, safe locked and despite request to fix still unusable, no shampoo/soap for shower, dirty windows, partially inoperable toilet. Recent paint work is nice inside... More

My wife and I had the Deluxe Suite for a romantic break after some business in Houston. We had the corner suite and it comes with 2 full bathrooms, a little living room and office desk area. It was very nice and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Downtown Houston is a bit of a let down though. Most... More

Booked a night here based on rave reviews. Did not disappoint. Hotel is historic, located in downtown area, but inside is all modern, but not too comtemporary. The rooms have been updated with king size beds, modernized for today's technology, updated furniture and TV. Bathroom is spacious, again, modern, with a fabulous shower. The towels are very thick which is... More

Old water bottles under bed. Hotel staff was not accommodating. Horrible area. I wouldn't step foot out of the hotel by myself. Pan handlers hassle you for money at the hotel front door. I could go on and on. Horrible place. Will never stay again and will let everyone know to never stay at The Sam Houston. Overly priced for... More

The physical hotel and accommodations are pleasant with a charming boutique feel. However, the experience was deeply marred by the fact that a stranger walked into our hotel room while my spouse was changing. The incident caused significant embarrassment, and led to basic questions about the security of the hotel - if another person's key worked on our hotel room.... More

So we went to 17 Restaurant before a concert and we were the only people in the restaurant with a part of 8. The service was so slow and the waitress was unable to accurately record our orders. We let her know that we had to leave promptly at 730 and were seated at 6; bread and drinks barely arrived... More

This smaller hotel in downtown Houston is decorated in a crisp, modern style that gives it a modern feel. Rooms are comfortable with sufficient room for a longer stay. Staff is well trained in guest service and all our requests were quickly met. The breakfast is limited, but tasty. Restaurant staff seemed a bit disorganized. Bar and lobby are comfortable.... More

Stayed here last night for a ballgame. The ballpark only a 5 minute walk from hotel. We had a deluxe king room on the top floor. The room was large and very comfortable. A really big comfortable bed with beautiful crisp white bedding. The bathroom was really modern with a great double walk-in powershower. Big white fluffy towels and nice... More

Jeremy & the entire staff did a great job. We checked in early. We had a lot of stuff to go to the Federal Court Building every day. We were dropped off by the courtesy car & picked up. The rooms are small, but very clean. Modern bathrooms with walk in showers, bug fluffy beds, work centers and flat screen... More
