If it weren't for the rattling, loud A/C in the room, this would be an easy five stars. There are spots that need fixing up, but the Peregrine Room is gorgeous and very quiet. Alas, each time the A/C kicked on, that quiet was spoiled. However, that was the only gripe. Our greeting was warm, the Lodge quiet, with great... More

Stayed here for one night. Wish we could have stayed a week. It was quiet, peaceful and spacious. The porch is perfect for sitting outside and eating a meal or snack and enjoying the scenery. We had a great time and will definitely go again.

Fossil rim was the home of a bachelor oil man back in the 70s. The Brady's would feel at home in this house! The common areas have not been updated so it is very period. Usually I hate this but since you are in a home, it actually was kind of fun. The lodge has 5 bedrooms of various sizes.... More

My 10-year-old son and I did our annual mom/son getaway and stayed at the Lodge and then did the private safari tour in the morning. Lodge is very charming, nice room (we stayed in the one at the top with jacuzzi tub) with nice common areas. The best part about it is being so close to the animals (right outside... More

We arrived after a long 4 1/2 hour drive from Houston. This place is deep in the country. We pulled in and there was a staff member who greeted us on the porch she introduced herself but was having a conversation on her cell she thought we were already guest and told us let her know if we need anything... Went with the boyfriend and we stayed in the Addax tent. The "tents" were really nice and come with two twin beds and a bathroom. The mattresses are not the best but I was able to sleep and no bed is ever like your bed at home. The tents are located over looking a watering hole and we spent lots... More

A friend and I visited the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and enjoyed our stay in the Lodge which was the private home of the original owner of the property. I was in the Parrot Room while she stayed in the AttwaterRoom next door. My king bed room had the added luxury of a tiled, sunken jetted tub which was wonderful.... More

We stayed in the Peregrine Room at the Lodge over the weekend. The room was huge with a great fireplace, although until they decide "how" to use the fireplace it is not available. They just purchased some kind of artificial logs where you insert the material to burn, but it costs around $24 per fire. So right now, they won't... More

We are so glad to hear that you had a wonderful weekend. We are working on getting the fire place issue fixed, but we are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and the tour the next morning. Thanks for sharing your experience! We really appreciate it! More

What an experience. For those looking for a camping alternative with the kids, this is a must go to place outside Dallas. Great tent / cabin. No TV, just beds and bathroom. Plenty of plugs around. Great welcome from staff. A bit pricy $225 a night but it does drop later in the year to $125 a night. Ideal for... More

My wife and I stayed at the Lodge for 1 night in the Parrott Room. The room had dusty lampshades but otherwise clean. The bathroom was very clean. The air conditioner had trouble keeping up in the early evening but cooled down during the night. Breakfast is served in the pavilion located within the tented camp area. The main reason... More
