A friend and I visited the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and enjoyed our stay in the Lodge which was the private home of the original owner of the property. I was in the Parrot Room while she stayed in the AttwaterRoom next door. My king bed room had the added luxury of a tiled, sunken jetted tub which was wonderful.... More

We stayed in the Peregrine Room at the Lodge over the weekend. The room was huge with a great fireplace, although until they decide "how" to use the fireplace it is not available. They just purchased some kind of artificial logs where you insert the material to burn, but it costs around $24 per fire. So right now, they won't... More

We are so glad to hear that you had a wonderful weekend. We are working on getting the fire place issue fixed, but we are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay and the tour the next morning. Thanks for sharing your experience! We really appreciate it! More

What an experience. For those looking for a camping alternative with the kids, this is a must go to place outside Dallas. Great tent / cabin. No TV, just beds and bathroom. Plenty of plugs around. Great welcome from staff. A bit pricy $225 a night but it does drop later in the year to $125 a night. Ideal for... More

My wife and I stayed at the Lodge for 1 night in the Parrott Room. The room had dusty lampshades but otherwise clean. The bathroom was very clean. The air conditioner had trouble keeping up in the early evening but cooled down during the night. Breakfast is served in the pavilion located within the tented camp area. The main reason... More

We stayed for two nights around New Year's Eve and had a blast. We had a few families with kids ranging from 5 years to 18 months. It is a lodge rental, not a hotel stay. Staying two nights was great because it allowed us to settle in and really enjoy the lodge. The kids loved waking up to see... More

As others have indicated, this is not a typical hotel or b&b. The house has been turned in to a lodge with five rooms. We stayed in the Parrot. We were able to park right outside our door for easy luggage moving. There were still a few steps but not bad.The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever... More

Stayed at the safari camp was ok untill I was ready for bed,and found only a box spring, no extra blankets or pillow and no mattress.I paid 225 dollars to sleep on box springs. Cannot believe that I did that.Did not receive any help that satisfied me.NEVER AGAIN FOR ME. Place is way overpriced.

We stayed at the Lodge for the purpose of seeing the animals and taking the breakfast tour. No way would I pay the regular season rates for this place. The Lodge rooms (bar, bedrooms, kitchen, dining area, etc.) are on multiple levels--you are constantly negotiating steep steps and stepping up to the kitchen, down to the living room, etc. so... This is not the place to stay if you are looking to be pampered. But, if you want an away from the hubbub of everyday this is it. Nicely appointed rooms, a great breakfast buffet, quiet surroundings in which to observe endangered species, the opportunity to see up close and personal many unique animals, Fossil Rim provides several different opportunities....
