If this is your dream trip, do not consider The Commodore. Choose a better place. This hotel is in need of repair and renovation. The rooms do face the beach and they have a nice pool, those are both good. The room was clean, also good. The downside is, rooms are small and outdated. They don't come with a fridge.... More

Overall, this hotel is exactly what I hope for on a beach trip. You can be laid back and casual. The retro styling of the older hotel is a plus for me. The beach is very convenient and the views... nothing but spectacular. I even love the pool and fountain. I do wish the rooms had a few more niceties....... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night before our Royal Caribbean Cruise and found it to be very comfortable. The staff was outstanding, each and everyone we spoke with was very helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond to answer questions and help us in every way!

This was just a one night stay on our way back from New Orleans to San Antonio. The Hotel itself is very pleasant, courteous staff and great location. The room itself was quite large with views of the beach. If I were to stay longer in Galveston then I would certainly stay here. Totally recommended.

Very cool building! Each room faces the gulf directly across the street and has a private balcony. The room was modern and very clean. Great restaurants on either side of it, too. My only complaint-- the AC was very loud when kicking on and off-- so much so that it woke us up throughout the night. I would still recommend... More

Let me start by saying the customer service is poor and unprofessional, the front desk person(male) was very rude and imploit to us, the double bed room was too small and the bed frame were sqeekie and the matters were old and worn out. There were no microwave or refrigerator, the TV. Remote did not work being too old. And... More

We had been to the Commodore for 3 other visits due to the location, never the amenities. This is a "back to the future" motel, nice for 1963, not so much for today. However, this was the first time we had been in a room above the 1st floor. Many of the comments I read are the same I felt... More

The best feature of the motel is that it is beach front and close to restaurants. But the place is stuck in 1960s forever! Check-in and check-out: It seemed that the hotel did not embrace technologies. The front desk clerks have a stack of papers for each guest for check in. The papers are in different colors too! The front... More

The Commodore at the beach is an older hotel that needs some work. It's clean and the staff were very friendly and the views are really spectacular. All the rooms have ocean views. It is close to dining and the seawall is literally across the street.

Never having been to Galveston, we made a reservation and were a bit scared with the appearance of the exterior. However, our room appeared to be newly furnished, very clean, and to be able to lie in bed and look at the ocean made it very worthwhile. Would come again.
