Location: Location is outstanding. You are about 100 yards from the beach and a block away from the trolley. There are several restaurants within walking distance or a short drive. There are also several souvenir shops and bars at your doorstep. Hotel: If you are expecting a Vegas monstrosity, you will be disappointed. If simple yet elegant is your taste... more

We have stayed at The Galvez many times and absolutely love it. Yes, the rooms are small- but it is an historic hotel. The lobby area is beautiful- it's relaxing to have drinks at the lobby bar. Also, check out the veranda overlooking the pool. It's nice to sit out there and enjoy the scenery. We have never had any... more

We loved the Galvez! We had a very comfortable room with a wonderful gulf view. We had a great time at the pool (one of the nicest I've been to) and the spa. The only thing we felt was lacking a bit was the food....the restaurant is only average compared to the rest of the hotel. I highly recommend this... more

This hotel was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Not only did it look clean, it smelled clean. There were always staff polishing the brass fixtures and mirrors. I was impressed by the special attention to detail. The location was perfect, close to everything and the view of the beach was amazing. While the rooms were smaller than I expected, they were very clean... more

When I saw that Hotel Galvez was a AAA four diamond hotel I was expecting a lot. They really did live up to my expectations. The pool area was gorgeous, and I loved the historic feel to the lobby and the whole hotel. I wish I could live there! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a romantic... more

This was a "long awaited" vacation and I wanted to stay at a different resort in Galveston. I checked out the Galvez on their website and called them to reserve a room with two double beds for a couple of nights (especially requesting an ocean front view). Upon arrival the small valet area was too crowded to wait to "valet"... more

A last minute trip to Galveston spurred a stay at the Galvez this past weekend. Booked the room from Priceline for 127.00 and was curious as to what the hotel would be like, having usually stayed at Hilton. Cool place, no doubt, rooms small but as it is old, that is ok-they are finished nice and we did have a... more

After reading several reviews stating that cars were broken into, we were a bit worried. Parked in front of the hotel and had no problems. As expected in a historic hotel, the room was very small. It was also a bit damp. Toilet paper on roll was always wet. The air conditioner was not able to keep the temperature below... more

What a wonderful experience. Hotel Galvez is right across the street from the beach, a wonderful view. Everything is right around the Hotel, shopping, restaurants. The staff was great, rooms are immaculate! Next time I go, I'm staying at the Hotel Galvez AND I'll take my family. Our group took an Ocean fishing trip, cost was around $175.00 included all... more

Well I can say I don't exactly agree with everyone else's reviews. First of all our room was terribly small with no mini frig. It would have been nice to have some refrigerated water close by. We weren't allowed to bring food or drink into the pool area, therefore spending a fortune on both items. The food by the way... more
