We needed a place near SMU while relocating ---I was studying for a final and just needed a place to get away without all the boxes. The evening "Happy hour" was wonderful the staff was gracious our room had a DVD player which I needed to have prepare for my class. The first room we were given was small and... More

I have stayed at Hotel Lumen twice and both times have been great. The staff (Rachael and others) are very helpful and pleasant. The shuttle service is fantastic and readily available. I look forward to many more stays at the Lumen as my daughter goes through SMU.

Over the past year, we have spent twenty nights at this hotel. The proximity to SMU is our favorite aspect of this property. The renovation and expansion are both great improvements. The new restaurant is a welcome upgrade. The staff is outstanding ( Nicki, Rachael, Filipe and Rosa). We look forward to our next visit next month.

I stayed at the The Lumen, a Kimpton Hotel Saturday and Sunday Aug 4th and 5th with my mom and my two dogs. We were visiting my sister at SMU. The location is perfect as the hotel is right across the campus of SMU. I walked the dogs Sunday and Monday morning and evening and felt perfectly safe. The neighborhood... More

I have stayed at, and enjoyed, Lumen's sister property in Dallas, ie-, Palomar, -- and Lumen did not disappoint. It is sleek and trendy as far as decor, and the staff is friendly, pleasant, and efficient, and very professional at the same time. My room was amazing....I had a suite on the 3rd floor, that had automatic blinds, minimalist furnishings... More

I stayed in this hotel for a 4th of July getaway with my boyfriend. We requested one of the nicer rooms on the top floor. It had a balcony facing downtown, separate living/kitchen and bedroom areas, and the bathroom featured a large soaking tub an AMAZING shower with multiple heads. It was a great stay all around and we were... More

Earlier this week I received a complimentary stay at the Lumen via small grant to do research at SMU. The hotel is very nice and clean. Valets are great (your only choice is valet). Rooms are fantastic. There is no open restaurant at this time, but several are within walking distance. A small number of cold sandwiches and salads can... More

This is an old hotel that has been remodeled into a trendy looking Kimpton. Very pleasing decor, and nice staff but impractical for sleeping. Currently under renovation and finding the door to even get into the hotel is a challenge. No parking but valet. No restaurant currently but many in the area. They offered a very basic and free continental... More

This is a nice, quiet hotel that has great potential. It is well located, the staff is very friendly and the hotel is very classy. And the pet friendly policy is terrific! However, my most important goal in choosing a hotel is getting a good night's sleep. The bed was poor - it is a mattress sitting on top of... More

When I first arrived I was a little disappointed that the hotels restaurant was closed due to reconstruction. You would never have known it. The staff had a food menu ready and was able to provide addition listings for delivery in the area. I cannot recommend this property highly enough. From the moment I arrived til the moment I left,...
