Stayed at the Lumen this past weekend with my husband and 3 kids. We wanted to be close to SMU, and this hotel was perfect. Booked a king suite which had plenty of room for our family. It was like a 1 BR condo...a living room with pullout sofa and kitchenette and a separate BR with king bed and attached... More

The room itself was a good size and very comfortable to stay in. I had one of the rooms with the large window facing the street / University. It was a bit of pain getting in and out of the hotel due to tons of construction that really seemed to take away from the appeal of the hotel but temporary... More

I called ahead and reserved a large table to accommodate my out of town guests and family who were coming in to celebrate my son's Highland Park High School graduation ceremonies at SMU. However when we arrived there was no air conditioning and no wait staff! To stay cooler we had to stand wherever we could and we had to... More

We stayed over the 4th of July weekend. Checked in for 1 night, were offered a room upgrade without asking for one, mentioned the Kimpton Karma Rewards phrase for the summer, and received free valet parking. The concierge called after we had been in our room for awhile, said they were putting together holiday packages for people, would it be... More

From the bellman to the front desk clerk to the restaurant staff, everyone treated us with the utmost respect and kindness. The lobby and pool area are beautiful, but the rooms in the old tower are nothing to write home about. The bed was soft and in need of replacement, or maybe because it did not have a box spring... What a great hidden gem in a neighborhood setting...Hotel Lumen is nestled in the Park Cities across the street from the SMU campus. Although we've never spent the night, the Hotel Lumen is a wonderful place to escape while not venturing too far afield. The Front Room is an intimate spot for a beverage and a bite to eat (chopped... More

We stayed here when we were in Dallas for a few days, visiting the George Bush library. The hotel is right across the street from SMU where the library is located. The service was great in the hotel, and the on-site restaurant was very good, both for dinner and for Sunday brunch.

The Lumen Hotel has a modern and pleasant feel about it. Alas, the looks deceived! As mentioned in a previous review the air conditioning units in many of the rooms are appallingly loud. Furthermore, before 7am there were loud vacuuming or drilling noises. There is no room service or breakfast or even coffee available before 7am, not great for the... More

Located by SMU there are places that you can walk to for some pretty decent food along hillcrest. My room was really large and they take dogs! Stayed 5 days and have zero complaints other than the food really wasn't anything special......or any good. I would def find another place to eat. All said and done I would be happy... More

The Hotel Lumen is a great little hotel - very stylish, super comfy beds, great food, fantastic location, cool vibe. The BEST part of staying at the Hotel Lumen is the Staff. John Paul is the very best hotel front desk person I have ever encountered. This was our second visit to the hotel, and it was even better than... More
