This is the place to be in Maramures! You stay in the old wooden houses perfectly restored by the owner. You can feel the magic of this beautiful village and life the life of the country. Magic, magic, magic! The staff is nice and helpful. It can't be better!

I've just returned from spending a week at the Village Hotel in Maramures, and had the most fantastic time. I was travelling alone, and stayed in one of the bedrooms in the 3 bedroomed house, Tablau. It was beautifully furnished with a wonderful attention to detail - the best of both worlds in that the bedroom had an old world... More

My wife tells me not to be personal in travel reviews, but the personal only brings some of the beautiful escapism of this place alive. What happens to fleet street paparazzi photographers when they have had enough? Well if they are Duncan Ridgely they apparently move through digital media, to surviving the tsunami in Sri Lanka with their family, through... More

We stayed in the beautifully restored Casa Mica. Breb is a pretty village surrounded by hills and flower filled meadows. This area of Romania is very hospitable and friendly We walked to several nearby villages via Hoteni. The team work hard to ensure enjoyable stay for their guests. Maria was wonderfully cheerful and helpful. A lot of thought has gone... More

The Village Hotel was a perfect choice for spending our 4 days in Maramures. The village of Breb itself is a great base camp for exploring the UNESCO-protected wooden churches and the majestic landscape. We stayed at Casa Veche, which is a century-old house, rescued from demolition, transported bit by bit and re-assembled on the propriety. The exterior is restored... More

My friend and I visited Breb for 6 days in April and had the most wonderful time staying at the Village Hotel. Duncan and Maria were very welcoming and helpful with information about getting there etc. We went on the overnight train from Bucharest and took our bicycles. We then cycled from Sighetu Marmatiei to Breb (25km up and down... More

I was very excited and intrigued by their website, which promised authentic village life including fresh food - this is why we decided to add Maramures to our one week trip through Transylvania. All in all, we stayed for four nights. I was particularly looking forward to the homegrown food - to quote their website: "Food in Breb is as... More

We are a young family on a 5 week trip in the region. Breb was a highlight of our whole trip made even better by the excellent help and advice given by the manager Maria. She was tireless in her explanations of village life and pointing us in the right directions. Our children loved her!

The Village Hotel is far from your regular hotel hospitality. It is that wonderful homely hospitality that makes you so relaxed and loved. The wooden houses are beautiful. We were greeted by Maria, the manager, and you can see the joy in her face in simply welcoming people and making sure they enjoy their stay. I think I can honestly... More

After my girlfriend and I took a mad dash of a trip through Eastern Europe, we both remember our all-to-brief stay in Breb as the highlight of the vacation. The whole village oozes with that simple life charm that makes you want to forget about the world outside and all the responsibilities that go along with it, hang up your... More
