I stayed with my parents in June - we had the "family room" - a double bed, very large single, and an additional bed we didn't need. The complex is enchanting - a cluster of traditional houses that cross an idyllic stream and include a fire pit for long nights or fresh mornings. We took the staff up on the... More

We stayed in one of the cottages for two nights. Unique ambience... Owners were very helpful, and went out of their way to make our visit pleasant. Kids loved the pseudo village effect. Fresh milk was delivered every morning. On the night of our arrival we had booked a peasant dinner through the hotel. This was quite unique too...went to... More

This is my third trip to Romania, each time staying in cabin style accommodation with meals provided, and this is one of the better settings. Duncan was our personal guide, nothing was,too much trouble. Penny made sure we did not run out of food and loo rolls, and checked up on us daily to see all OK. This place will... More

Excellent stay in beautiful surrounds with amazing hosts who really know the meaning of 'hospitality'!! We were welcomed by Penny and Duncan like long lost friends and made to feel really welcome. Penny is a gregarious hostess who is obviously much liked by the locals and Duncan is a talented photographer. My husband was taken on a walking/photographer tour which... More

As a traveler I am looking for cultural immersion and this hotel really delivered! Our host Duncan took us on a day-long tour where we met some engaging local people and explored several outstanding wooden churches. He was quite patient and let us poke around as long as we wanted. Duncan and Penny are British ex-pats but seem to be... More

We stayed in Casa Mica for two nights and had the best time of our trip in Romania. Breb is a really untouched place in Romania and a great way to experience the real culture. Penny and Duncan were exceptional hosts. They were so friendly and were super enthusiastic about the local village. They knew the history and the people... More

The cottage is a boutiquified village home with all charm you want in a Maramures vacation and all the amenities and comforts you need. Penny, Duncan and Julia were wonderful. They arranged a visit to the neighborhood brandy makers and to a neighbor's for dinner.

We stayed here in October 2013 - my parents and my sister & her boyfriend. The house is beautiful, the owner and staff are extremely friendly - they organised (and accompanied us - to overcome the language barrier) dinner in a couple of local houses for us where the food was really lovely, probably the tastiest chicken I have ever... We had a fantastic experience at the Village Hotel. Breb is a beautiful, quiet town and our hosts Maria and Penny were lovely! The wooden house we stayed in was extremely charming and beautiful with very modern amenities inside. We were given a bottle of local horinka to drink during the stay and ample supplies for a self cooked breakfast.... More

I stayed here for a couple nights with my wife and two young children. I could not recommend the Village hotel more. You stay in beautiful, authentically renovated farmers cottages. The staff is great and Penelope, the owner/manager, is incredibly friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her and swapping travel and children stories. She gave some great recommendations,... More
