I'm a hotel snob. I travel to Palm Springs every other month and originally am from Los Angeles, so when I traveled to west Texas recently, I have to admit I was surprised to find a five star lodge. The lodge was so peaceful and my morning run was like a religious experience. The service and wine were amazing. At night the quiet was like nothing I had ever experienced. If you want a get away where you feel refreshed and not stressed and can see forever looking out at a sunset that's only obstruction are the far away mesas, this is the place. The rooms were spacious, the food service is just getting started, since they are looking for a chef, but the ambience makes up for it. The vineyards are just getting going too. I can't wait to go back and check on the progress of the lodge. The locale is not near a beach or mountain, which I usually prefer, but the remoteness of the location was almost empowering.
