I have read many positive reviews about this campground, but we will not return. The sites are small and to give you an idea of how small, we were in a 21 foot travel trailer and felt very cramped. While setting up I was essentially intruding on the folks next door that were sitting outside. We arrived just after dark.... More

The lyrics, "Climb every mountain, Ford every stream, Follow every rainbow, 'Till you find your dream," come to mind when I think about our stay at Mountaineer Campground! I'll be honest, until this summer, I had only camped at state or federal campgrounds. I just wasn't too certain of what I would find at a privately owned one... The owners,... More

My wife and I stayed at the Mountaineer a few weeks ago. It was a last minute booking for a river site. The site was paved, clean, level, had a nice porch over the river. The owners were friendly an accommodating. We will stay again at the next opportunity.

Very nice staff! They have hot showers and air conditioned bathrooms and a laundry room as well! They have a scavenger hunt in the evening! They have an honor system when the office is closed. Ice machine and wood bundles are available as long as you tell the when they open! There are paved biking paths on both sides of... More

Stayed in Mountaineer for a week, I loved our site! Completely shaded, on the river, with a nice pool and clean bathrooms. We had a great time, the staff was great. I was not thrilled with being hassled by religious volunteers to go to bible camp every morning and evening. I love the idea of having activities, but I shouldn't... More

Moutaineer Campground is a nice, quiet, fairly small private campground right on the Little River. It served as a great home base to explore the Cades Cove area of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. They have a nice clean bathouse with 2 showers and a small pool. The owners were freindly and easy to work with. Campsites are shaded, but... More

We stayed here for 9 days this month and loved it! The owners are friendly and helpful, the rates reasonable and its close to our favorite place, Cade's cove. They are also pet friendly and they keep the premises neat and clean. Wifi reception was good at our site and also good cable tv selection. We will certainly be back... More

Staff were very friendly, flexible and accommodating. They allowed us to check in after hours and even provided us with linens and made or need when we were at dinner! Room was clean and very well equipped with kitchen items. A good value option for those on a budget.

We decided on a cabin and it was great. Private bath, small kitchen, screened porch with rocking chairs. So peaceful we came back a few days later when the tent camping part of our trip got rained out.

We are new to camping and this was our first private campground. It was very nice, nice owners, great location. Our only issue was that we thought the sites were a little tight, but I'm told, most private campgrounds are tighter than, let's say, State Parks. Very woodsy, great shade, the river is a hop, skip and a jump away... More
