Townsend is a quiet, small town but has grocery store, gas, propane and great mom-n-pop stores. If you want all the chain stores/restaurants, go to Gatlinburg. The best spots at the KOA back up to the river and I don't recall any of them backing up against the highway. We especially appreciated the dog park and clean bathrooms.

My wife and I were traveling without reservations and visiting Smokey Mountains area. We were staying at a RV park in Pigeon Forge but is was more like a parking lot campground. We drove over to Townsend and Drove through the KOA and decided we would pull our trailer there for the rest of the trip because the campground was... More

We spent five nights at this KOA. A very nice location along a beautiful creek. It is within a nice, scenic drive to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. A very nice drive to the entrance of the Smoky Mt. National Park. It has a very convenient nearby store and if you want ice and fire wood delivered to you campsite, it... More

We make an annual trip to this campground right before school starts. We are always impressed at how clean everything is kept here -- our number-one concern. We also love that it's wooded throughout, and we make a point of getting a site near the river because it's very scenic. It's just outside the National Park entrance, and a close... More

It's really a family oriented place, with lots of recreational opportunity for kids (and there were a lot). The sites are a bit cramped, but everything works well. KOAs are, as you know, a bit pricey (about $70 a night), but you get attendants who deliver wood/ice to your site and remove your trash. You can get propane at the... More

We stayed in a Deluxe Cabin for 4 nights in late June. We had never stayed in a KOA Campground so were not familiar with their routine as far as towels go. I knew that you had to provide your own linens for the Camping Cabins so that's why I booked a Deluxe Cabin with linens included. No one explained... More

We got site #11, backs up to the water. Great view of the river. Crystal clear water. At this time you can walk all the way across. Private deck. Concrete patio at this site. Fire ring & picnic table. Water, electric and sewer. Clean campground, clean shower house. Large tree house playground with climbing walls, and swings, slides. Very nice... More

We go to this KOA two to three times per year. It has great amenities especially for families with children there is lots to do. The campground is on the river which is so peaceful and pretty. I recommend a riverfront site if you can get one. The sites are not huge but they are workable. The staff are helpful... More

I always thought KOA was family fun. I experienced anything but that. My tent site was wedged in between rvs and cabins and extremely close to my neighbors..the Rv parties went on until 1am when I had to go over and ask them to shut it down. No one from KOA had a thought to go ask them to respect... More
