My wife & I spent a two-day break in Ely and were delighted with every aspect of The Old Hall. Technically this is not a hotel in the accepted sense but the home of a charming family who let out just five rooms in their magnificent home. They have spent nearly 20 years restoring this Jacobean mansion to something like... More

Ely IS a bit off the beaten track, and The Old Hall is 2-3 miles outside Ely in the Fenland. A period brick mansion complex, it has bags of charm and character but also all the creature comforts anyone could wish. The hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly. We had their best room, the one in which Cromwell's mother was... More

Treated incredibly badly by snotty upper-class owners apparently averse to us plebs 'sharing' their house ("this is OUR home, you must observe OUR rules"). Charged a fortune for poor service. The owners were intrusive, obnoxious and unhelpful. If it hadn't been my sister's wedding I would have made a scene. No attempt to cater for individuals (dad can't eat eggs... More

Again, the welcome by the owners was unprofessional and rude,,they are almost resentful of the people who come to have a wedding there, I can only assume they have had to cater for the unwashed masses to pay the bills and it shows,,lovely backdrop, with Ely Cathedral, not so sure about the barrat style house they have turned it in... We stayed here as part of the wedding party for my brother in law's wedding. The venue is spectacular with stunning views. The bedrooms are fantastic, the breakfast was delicious and the owners are incredibly warm and friendly.

Was a guest at a wedding and a beautiful venue it is, with Ely Cathedral as a back-drop and wonderful garden and views. One's first impression is normally the lasting one and unfortunately the welcome by the owner was unprofessional, unpleasant and rude. The owner of a road cafe would have had better manners towards their guests. Having said that... More

A beautiful wedding venue; Ely Cathedral as a back-drop framed by fenland skies. Staff worked hard to make a very successful wedding event. The Hall is superbly restored throughout. We stayed overnight, the rooms were just superb. Breakfast was well prepared and served. Sausages were of above average quality.

Attended as a wedding guest and whilst the building and surrounds are extremely well kept and clean with beautiful views, I personally found the owner very unwelcoming to the point of being rude. Whilst the bar was open during the photo shoot (2 hours) there was only ONE toilet available for ALL guests as access to the other toilets were... More

We had my sister's wedding at the old hall. I didn't stay at the venue overnight, but my experience of the wedding day was it is an excellent venue. Amazing setting and view. Lovely rooms, nice staff, an excellent formula for a wedding combing use of the main house for the ceremony and drinks; and then a permanent marque for... More

We stayed here whilst visiting Ely Cathedral and surrounding East Anglia. This was a bed and breakfast to die for! The Hall has been re-constructed from original jacobean brick and now provides a spectacular wedding venue and luxurious bed and breakfast stay. We treated ourselves to the Cromwell room, complete with wonderful bathroom and views to match. The bed was... More
