Campground is pretty much a dump and add rain it turns into a bug infestation.During rainy times the sites send campers scrambling for higher ground then transforms into a giant mudhole.Showers do have hot water, but you feel nastier coming out then you did going in. Raft rental person nel are very rude and overpriced(better service down the road at Web... More

The campground itself is really incidental when compared with the river running outfitter. It's two parts of the same deal, but let's review them separately: The campground. I've stayed in better and in worse. It's average. There were no gravel tent pads. Lots of trees if you like to hammock camp (like me). Fresh water faucets are available. There is... More

This will be an annual tradition for our extended family! I've stayed in The Big House (which has a complete kitchen, two full bathrooms, and beds to accommodate several couples plus their children) and one of the smaller cabins. The smaller cabin was fine for three adults, although, as noted, the loft is very low and best suited for a... More

I have no complaints as far as the river portion of the trip. The equipment was in good shape, clean and the costs were reasonable. However, I would NEVER ever stay in the cabin our group had again. The grass surrounding the area was in desperate need of a cut and by the end of the weekend it was an... More

Can't say how much we love Hiwassee Outfitters! This is our families 3rd or 4th trip there. The staff is very friendly and made our stay fun for the whole family. My kids love riding bikes with there friends and love going down the river. We will definitely be coming back soon and have recommended this place to several friends... More

I was expecting the river to have more class 3 and 4 rapids but the Hiwassee is pretty calm. It does have a few pretty cool rapids though and it was really fun still. My boyfriend and I and two of our friends went together and rented a tube from Hiwassee Outfitters. For the most part the staff was really... More

This place is primarily an outfitter for trips down the Hiwassee River. It is a great river that is done without a guide and I think kids as young as five can go. You can rent rafts, inter tubes, and Kayaks. The service and equipment are both excellent and the staff is friendly. The outfitter portion of this business is... More

We had a 2:30 reservation to go rafting. When we arrived at 2:00 we were informed that "reservations" don't really mean reservations and that our bus trip would not be until 3:00 as the 2:30 bus was already full. We waited but bus was actually ready until around 3:30. The bus was loaded but we waited on the hot bus... More

Husband and I had a great time on the river....we had an inflatable two-person kayak, perfect for our adventure, no guide needed....Class 1-2....Primitive surroundings, natural surroundings made for a great trip. Call before you go to check the water levels...we were "hung up" quite a bit on the rocks, but a great wide river to enjoy....

We have been going down the Hiwassee River for many years. This is one of a few rivers that can be navigated without a guide and still have a great time with rapids. The equipment is great and we always use the funyaks for the best ride. There's always lots to do, from playing in the water at the back... More
