i'm afraid that this was priced at the higher end but failed in basic service etiquette . The bad habit of Australian Front of House staff to point to a table and say thats yours is not what you expect. The menu on the table (paper) was also mumbled to be looked at for meals and drink, no mention of... More

Just back from the Royal Hotel where so much has been happening since our last visit. More tables outdoors at both the tavern and the restaurant overlooking the ocean. New menu which was interesting, and catering for gluten free which was good. You can fly into Melbourne, get a bus connection out to Frankston and from there another bus to... More

We recently booked to celebrate a friend's birthday - table for seven. The waiter was totally disinterested, not that he was busy ie only three other tables occupied. He served us water, then we had to send out a search party to find him again. Eventually our orders were taken with some disdainful comments. Drinks were served eventually - food... More

Booking in was a challenge as there was no reception desk. Finally worked it out to to be taken to a room with just one chair. I stood up through the paperwork. Room was OK although couldn't get out on the balcony because plant holder had fallen over against the door. The plastic plants were everywhere. Sorted that out with... More

On a recent trip down the Peninsula, something we do regularly, we called into Mornington`s Royal Hotel and were far from disappointed. The atmosphere is alive and the provincial style decor crisp and welcoming. The service is very good with plenty of attentive young staff eager to assist. Their knowledge of the menu could be better for the style of... More

Been a few years since last visited this lovely hotel on the Esplanade. It has been totally refurbished, ( in keeping with the history) ,excellent food and lovely staff. Book a table near the window and enjoy your meal while looking out over Port Phillip Bay.

Since the new owners refurbished last year, this place has got better and better. It's a beautiful old building with high ceilings and original features making it a unique place to dine. The food is amazing and the service is excellent. You definitely get value in the quality of the food. There a casual outdoor area and a front bar... More

The Royal Hotel has the best accommodation in Mornington. Black and white decor, amasingly comfortable bed, fantastic shower and each room overlooks the ocean, so we watched wonderful sunsets every night. To top our stay off the breakfast basket was truly wonderful, what a great way to start the day. We are gluten free, not only was there gluten free... More

The Royal Hotel has been totally transformed and now has a modern ambiance in a historical shell. From what was a very average or below average pub the Royal now is fine dining and as good as it gets in Mornington. The food quality and presentation was good as you would expect from the chef at Walters Wine Bar and... More
