The cottages are beautiful and not too small. All the little touches made our stay even better. Thanks Tessa and Stewart for a great getaway from the suburbs. Will have to come back another time! Jess and Dale

A midwinter birthday weekend escape into a quaint, comfortable cottage surrounded by the native flora and fauna of the valley with a view into the ranges should be more than sufficient to recommend staying here. However, add warm and friendly hosts who go out of their way to provide service, and ensure that the weekend is a success (especially when... More

This was a fantastic location for a weekend getaway in picturesque surroundings. The cottages had everything you could ask for with such attention to detail - books, music, DVDs, boardgames etc. The view was to die for and we managed to see a lot of wildlife. This is a great location if you want to see local animals in their... More

High in the hills outside Healsville Lyrebird Cottages consists of 2 one bedroom units which look out on the bushland/forest that surrounds the Yarra Valley. Stewart and Tessa are excellent with making one feel welcome. This was our second stay - the last being four years previous. There is an abundance of native wildlife in the area including the beautiful... More

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the Yarra Valley, there are many attractions around us including Healesvile Sanctuary only 10 minutes away and places like Piaf Day Spa, just 6 or 7 minutes down the road for guests to enjoy. We would love to be able to offer wi-fi but are limited to mobile broadband until the NBN satellite service... More

We stayed for three nights in Mountain Ash Cottage and loved every minute. Stewart and Tessa were the perfect hosts and the cottage amenities were exceptional. We plan to return. Only note is that you need to be aware how far from Healesville the cottage is - the location won't work well unless you are happy to cater for yourself... More

Thanks for your review Kendra, really glad you enjoyed your stay. We are 12- 15 minutes away from Healesville centre, and about 10 minutes from and directly above Healesville Sanctuary. Guests can if they wish order meals from the menu on our website until 6.00pm on the day. We then deliver the meals to the cottage. It is a popular... More

Our recent two night stay at the Mountain Ash cottage (Lyrebird Cottages) was all and more, that I had hoped for. Tessa and Stewart are the perfect hosts - helpful and timely with all arrangements, welcoming and friendly on arriving and departure, and ensuring you have everything possible you may need for a perfect stay before leaving you in peace... We stayed in the Silver Wattle cottage - very nice and spacious. The other cottage is close and the home not far away but all is set up well with privacy in mind. Have stayed in a number of cottages but this is one of the best for having absolutely everything you could need at hand. From bubble bath for... More

So glad you enjoyed your stay. We try to think of everything we would like to find in a cottage if we were going away! The trees, the views and the peacefulness are the special bonuses that nature provides. That's why we love it here. More

Glad we took the time away from the city to stay here for 3 nights. Mountain ash, one of the two cottages available, had everything we needed for our stay including breakfast goodies and wood for the log fire which was greatly appreciated (despite it being February!). The weather wasn't great but that didn't dampen our enjoyment.... even the Lyrebird... More

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and glad you enjoyed your stay. So sorry about the toes - Stewart has now re-positioned the doorstop so we hope no one will experience the same problem in future. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. More

I recently spent two nights here with my boyfriend for his birthday and we loved every minute at Lyrebird. We wished we could have stayed another couple of night to really enjoy the sanctuary, Cook beautiful meals and enjoy them on the private wrap-around balcony overlooking the lawn and bush below. The room was more than comfortable and spacious, extremely... More

Thanks Matilda. It's rare in our busy lives to have space and time for a leisurely breakfast. It's great to hear your story, I believe most of our guests also enjoy a long breakfast surrounded by forest and birdsong. We have a late check out of midday so our guests don't have to hurry away. And when we can, we... More

First experience at a B&B - my partner and I absolutely loved it. We were greeted by one of the owners, Stewart, who was lovely and welcoming. The view from our quaint cottage - "Silver wattle" - was stunning. Breakfast provisions were all accounted for as well as some great extras like hot chocolate and marshmallows. We also chose to... Always glad when someone has enjoyed their stay but even more so when it's the first time in a B&B! It's a great time of the year for lyrebird spotting when the males are singing and displaying, so glad you saw them. Thanks again for your generous words. More
