My wife and I spent six days at Lyrebird Cottages. We stayed in the Mountain Ash Cottage, and were really pleased with the accommodation. The Mountain Ash Cottage backs onto bush land with glimpses of the Melbourne city skyline. The Cottage provides privacy and plenty of bird and wildlife watching opportunities. We regularly saw lyrebirds, kookaburras, rosellas, wrens, wallabies and... More

Thanks for your comments Scott! Winter is a great time for seeing the lyrebirds. Just moving in to Spring now and the wattles will be spectacular. Nature really does work its magic up here! More

From the first point of contact with Stewart and Tessa to arriving and departing we found them both fantastic to deal with they were so lovely and welcoming. We stayed in Mountain Ash cottage which gave spectacular views and alot of privacy. The cottage itself we fell completely in love with the views were breathtaking and the gardens beautiful, we... The cottage was extremely nice (looked new). It is very down to earth with lots of wood used There was plenty of space, lots of hot water (the pressure wasn't amazing but it was passable) and the scenery around the cottage was lovely. Everything was thought of (down to vinegar for poaching your eggs). Tessa and Steward were very accommodating... More

Thanks for taking the time to post a review - we try and think of everything our guests may need. There are some foggy nights up here on the mountain ( about 3 or 4 a year) when even we have to drive really slowly. The changing moods of nature are part of the charm of living up here! Living... A beautiful place to stay with wonderful views, warm log fire and every need taken care of. The bird watching from Mountain Ash cottage was fantastic, with many birds seen in the lovely gardens and bush on the property including the spectacular lyre birds. Tessa and Stewart's recommendations for other birding "hotspots" and nearby scenic walks all proved most enjoyable,... More

Highly recommended. 2 lovely cottages in cleared garden, set in beautiful bush. The lyrebirds are magnificent! Great calling, and display. Stools for kitchen bench at just the right height now! We'd love to come back and we'll be telling friends.

We stayed for one night in early Jan 2014 in the Mountain Ash Cottage (the lower of the two). The cottage was beautiful and well equipped. The location was scenic and peaceful. Highly recommended. To get there, it's a 15-20 minute drive from Healesville. The cottage retains an old fashioned charm, but is built with modern conveniences like a spa... More

Stayed three nights in Mountain Ash Cottage (the lower of the two units) in mid-October. Amongst the best, if not the best, cottage style accommodation we have stayed in worldwide. The location is beautiful in a clearing in the woods and the cottage was fantastically well-appointed. Owners Stewart and Tessa really seem to have thought about things from the guests... More
