In January 2016 our family of 3 enjoyed our second stay in the 2BR cottage, and we've booked again for 2017. Shady Brook Cottages are nestled near a hillside set several hundred metres from the Great Alpine Road. The turnoff to the property is very close to the centre of Harrietville, so is very easy to find; a great location... More

We return year after year to this self-contained B&B apartment overlooking a stunning garden and the tree-covered slopes of Mt Hotham. We go in January for the annual Harrietville Music Camp, but Shady Brook cottages is also a good wintertime base for skiing on the mountain. There are stand-alone cottages set in the garden, but we stay in the 1st... More

We stayed in the apartment above the owners accomodation. They had children staying with them most of the time whilst we were there which made for a lot of thumping and bumping commencing at around 7.15am. Not a peaceful stay and would not recommend the apartment to anyone. Privacy was also a concern being above the owners residence. You would... More

The two bedroom spa B&B apartment with lounge is part of the main house and is clearly advertised that way. It has its own independent entrance onto a very large deck over looking a very large garden and mountain ranges its self contained and comes with continental breakfast. It was unfortunate on one morning we had children visit us early... More

My husband and another couple stayed 2 nights at the B&B in Autumn. It was very clean and the view were amazing but not worth $225 a night. The continental breakfast was small Kellogs boxes (that were out of use by date) with a loaf of bread, a selection of spreads and fruit. Couches were tinny and not a place... More

We (family of 5 with 3 children) stayed in the Bed and Breakfast area and it was perfect! John and Anne maintain a wonderful environment for guests of all sorts. We can't recommend it highly enough, we hated to leave :~(( Clean, highly maintained, well managed, a treat of a find in a beautiful area where the choices of accommodation... More

My husband and I stayed in one of the one bedroom cottages with our 2 kids. John and Anne were lovely and didn't charge us for having the kids stay (which so many places do). The cottage was lovely, the gardens are stunning and the owners are very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend.

We stayed here on the weekend just gone. It was a birthday surprise weekend away from my boyfriend. What a beautiful surprise it was!!! The property/gardens were stunning, very well kept by John and Anne (the hosts), both John and Anne were very friendly and helpful. The one bedroom cottage we stayed in was so cosy, warm, spotlessly clean and... More

John and Anne are wonderful hosts in this lovely mountain retreat. The garden is beautiful, with comfortable chalets with private space. We had a lovely 4 days and would have loved to stay longer... Thanks, will be back to see another season...

We stayed here over new year and once again had a quiet, very relaxing break. We first came here in January 2007 and try to get back each year for a short break. The cottages have been well maintained and are still like new. The gardens are just beautiful and a credit to Ann and John. Harrietville is a small... More
