When we stay at a bed and breakfast (which we often do) there are certain things we've come to appreciate that help to differentiate a good stay from a great stay. Anyone can set up a beautiful bed and breakfast in a beautiful place, but if the service is wrong, as it often is, you may as well have stayed at home!

Larkrise House is one of those rare places, unique in its field, which you just won't want to leave. Upon arrival you're greeted warmly, and an air of comfort and relaxation is 'fostered' the minute you see the view down the hills onto the Wilson's Promontory. And what a view it is - waking up and looking out on it from your four-poster bed, you'd be forgiven for having to lie in and miss breakfast altogether.

That's if you didn't know how good the breakfast is, though! Home made bread, jams and cereals, and eggs that are fresh from the hens outside (try not to think about it), and pretty much anything else you need. Ros was obliging and sympathetic to... more
