We had a decent stay in the old cottages at the Royal Mail - however for the hype we don’t feel it was worth the very hefty price tag. The location is amazing and a fantastic point to explore the Grampians, but I think they’re resting on their laurels here.

Love the Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld. Great location, very quiet and great food. Cottages are a must for everyone. Stay 2 to 3 nights to enjoy everything on offer and go wandering around the great walking tracks or just sit in front of the open fire.

We love staying at the Mount Sturgeon cottages and the dining experience in Wickens. They have exceptions staff a mind boggling kitchen garden and with chefs that are super talented at using this fresh produce to deliver fantastic food.

We loved every moment of our stay at the Royal Mail Hotel, Dunkeld. Our accommodation & dinner in the Parker Street Project restaurant were first class. We especially enjoyed the kitchen garden tour where the produce is grown for the restaurants. Our guide was very informative & passionate about sustainability, no waste processes, conservation & care for the environment. Will definitely recommend to family & friends & would love to return in the near future.

Royal Mail has been on my radar for a long time and we finally got there and had a wonderful stay. The location is stunning, the food - particularly at Wickens - was fantastic, the cottages were cosy and all the staff we dealt with were lovely. Would love to go back again.

I attended the Dunkeld Writers Festival from 17 to 20 August 2023 as a guest speaker and was delighted to be accommodated at the Royal Mail Hotel where I had stayed once previously in 2014. My room was superb and afforded a delightful view of Mt Sturgeon. The bed was comfortable, quiet and spotlessly clean. I arrived late on Thursday afternoon after having driven in continuous rain from Adealde so it was especially pleasing to find the room so cosy on arrival.

We loved our perfect two night getaway and chose a Mountain View Room. It was spacious and light with comfortable lounge chairs as well as beds and pillows. Huge bathrooms with heated floors and the fluffiest robes. All topped off with an amazing dining experience at Wickens.

Set in the wonderful location near the foothills of the Grampians in the quaint little town of Dunkeld. We were very well looked after with many happy wishes for our anniversary. Our room was epic with front-row views of Mt Sturgeon and we had fantastic service standards from staff. The kitchen garden tour was way more than we expected, especially for me since I have a green thumb and even more so when we realised it was guided by the executive chef in his best country gardeners outfit :P The wine tutorial was legendary as well, what a cellar!!! It certainly put us in the mood for one of the most memorable meals of our lives @ Wickens. Incredible. Such creativity and talent I've only seen on shows like Chef's Table. Knowing that everything came from the surrounding sustainable

We came to the Royal Mail for a quick getaway of some walking in the Grampians along with a food and wine experience and we were not disappointed! The hotel was fantastic, the food was to die for, and the accompanying experiences (kitchen tour, wine tutorial) rounded the experience out beautifully. With Dunkeld being right next door to some great walks, this is an all-inclusive weekend (with awesome croissant at the old Dunkeld Bakery to boot!)

Highly recommend as a culinary experiential weekend - mind blowing food, straight from the farm (was brilliant to be able to do the garden tour and hear from the Exec Chef about all the efforts to create the sustainable gardening and farming practices to deliver food straight from their grounds to the table). We loved the tranquility of the cottages, the many grounds walks and the extra tours and treats making this a memorable weekend. We were fortunate to have clear weather and be able to hike between tastings and tours, however, outside of the few hikes, the town itself didn't offer much else (so come prepared with a good book or an appetite to settle in at the bakery or bar!)
