I must admit, before arriving at The Hughenden, I was a little concerned having read some of the reviews on here. I needn't have worried though. The place was really something special. We were travelling from Melbourne for a few days away for our 6th wedding anniversary. We booked a 'Standard Plus' room and it was gorgeous. Filled with antique... More

Booked this from UK looking for some luxury on way back to UK from funeral in New Zealand. I knew of it from living in area in past. Standard Room we booked for 4 nights was tiny-could not open both suitcases without moving the chair to side of bed blocking access. It was a single room at best. No shelving... More

We booked a room for over $300 on Wotif. When we arrived we were led up the stairs and out past a little terrace to a very small, dark, dingy room. It was two or so very small rooms, or maybe a small room and a hallway joined together. The layout didn't work at all. The paint on the walls... More

The hotel is in one of Sydney's nicest streets and that alone promises much. The building is attractive from the street but it doesn't take long to note the shabbiness which begins at the doorstep. Check-in was friendly and the public areas of the hotel are nice, befitting the age of the building and the decor. Our room is meant... More

Comfortable, charming, good service in the bar, a roaring fire on a winter's night. When we left our small but clean room I left my mobile phone behind and they were very happy to post it to us. I would stay again, not for the rooms (really quite small) but for the ambience and service.

I love it every time we stay here. Walking distance to alliance stadium, it is a convenient place to stay. Modern facilities in an old world building, complete with a library, it is a comfortable cosy place. Full of interesting memorabilia, the attached restaurant and sitting room are a wonderful place to have a wind down with a hot or... More

Great accommodation venue in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. 6 minutes to the city, close to SCG & Footy Stadium, Oxford St. Simple elegance, clean, comfortable, good breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. Loved the stay and will be back.

My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights when travelling with out 2 Great Danes, yes, Great Danes! We had a slight hiccup at the start when the room we were allocated did not have ANY curtains in the lounge area (even though we specifically checked it was a room inclusion because of the dogs and their tendency to... Upon arrival both male attendants at the desk stood and watched as I struggled to get the suitcase and bag through the front door. Offer of assistance to take the suitcase to my room was accompanied with constant comments on how heavy the bag was. Room 21 on the First floor was right above the dining room, so very noisy.... Thsi boutique hotel is currently undergoing painting & renovation. Charming but many of the rooms are very small, so choose your rooms with care. They are small rooms and remeiniscent of an English hotel. However, the staff are very helpful and there is a new restaurant that is attracting new diners. The hotel is well located close to the CBD... More
