We stayed for 2 nights recently visiting a relation nearby. Coming from the UK, we have an idea of what an individually styled Victorian room should look like. This was more like a motel with well worn, old and chipped furniture in a non-inviting environment. In the small (quaint?) bathroom, the shower tap fell off in one's hand, the wash... More

There doesn't seem to be a lot of accommodation options around Paddington, but there doesn't need to be with the lovely Hughenden available! We stayed in one of the larger rooms (2) & it was very comfortable. It was quite close to reception & the kitchen & you could hear a bit of noise, but nothing outrageous. Bathroom was clean... More

Two sisters and a brother, me accompanied by my wife. We stayed for two nights nights, Saturday - Monday, to attend a family gathering. First, I must say that the "cosy" rooms were agreed to be quite comfortable and not as tight as some reviewers state. My standard room was difficult to fault - excellent bed, above average TV, everything... More

Girls weekend getaway couldn't have been better. The room was clean and quiet for sleeping in. Love the sundeck. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly especially at breakfast time. It really made our stay relaxing. We are planning another girls weekend away as soon as we can organise MORE friends. So much more to do around the... More

Overall the experience was okay to good. There are some wonderful things about the hotel - the quirky drawings and paintings, the fact that no two rooms seem to be the same, most of the staff are lovely and it has an amazingly good restaurant attached. The whole place appears welcoming, warm and inviting. However, there are some areas that... More

So I was staying here for the weekend to attend a nearby wedding. Full disclosure, older boutique hotels aren't really my jam. Anything which is older than 15 years should just be set on fire and rebuilt. The plus sides for this place: - Awesome location right near Centennial Park (Be careful trying to cross this at night after 500... More

I often stay with my cousin in the area, but she had other guests and she suggested the Hughenden. The room I booked, was labelled "cosy" which is clearly a better marketing name to appeal to the slightly claustrophobic than "closet". There was just enough room to navigate around what turned out to be a thin and uncomfortable bed, to... More

It was difficult opening the door and stand there trying to get out as so close to bed. I was glad I didn't need to swing a cat. Very noisy room at night as right on a major intersection. Took forever for hot water to get to you but bathroom was very clean. The staff seemed lovely and helpful.

We are a hotel with a variety of rooms that suit different travellers and different price points. Our room categories range from ‘cosy room’ to ‘deluxe suite’. If size is important to you, don’t book the cheapest ‘cosy room’ room, and then complain it is too small. Not sure what else I can say about that. More

We stayed for two nights mid-week. The hotel is well situated for the Woolhara, Paddington area and has easy access by public transport to the city. The room was comfortable, though lacking in hanging space if you were staying longer. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was fine, though for the life of me why you have...
