Good hostel, bit to far from the city but close to some nice beaches and the Narrabeen lakes! The rooms where clean but the WiFi was slow. Good kitchen and huge coolerroom. The pool is a bit tiny but you would be spending more time at the beach anyway!

Clean rooms and bathrooms but most disgusting kitchen I have seen so far. You also have to put down a ten dollar deposit to get a plate and cutlery. Service was average, but they don't include services like free luggage storage and stuff like that, which is a given at any other hostel I've been to. If you wanna see... More

Dear Rosa, Thanks for your feedback, and sorry you didn't 100% enjoy your stay. Our hostel is great for working holiday makers, as there are lots of jobs in the area, and for those wanting Australian beach culture we are a great spot. However, we are not so close to the city, so travel is problematic if you want to... More

Far from city center. It's like one hour with public transport to get to the city center. This will cost you approximatly 10$ one way. Small rooms but they are okay on the first floor. On the ground floor some rooms don't have windows.

This was back in September 2009. But I lived here for 3 months on first arriving in the Country from the UK. Was a very comfy hostel, with friendly staff and at the time a bunch of amazing people. At the time we could also hire bikes and surfboards, and there was always a great choice of evening entertainments. Is... More

I was one of the first to stay at Collaroy YHA when it opened a decade and a half ago and have been back many times since. The hostel as a general rule is clean- save for the ever-present beach sand in the communal showers. I don't cook when I'm there, so no reports on the kitchen, save for getting... More

Billed as the 'Sydney Beachouse', you can't deny the location of this place is great, just across from the beach and a direct bus ride away from Sydney CBD - however, it rates as one of my worst hostel experiences ever - if you want somewhere quiet & clean, this definitely isn't the place for you. After a long and... More

Thanks for taking the time to review our property. I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay - you should not have been disturbed at night, and you should have been looked after at reception. Our service is almost always referred to as excellent, so I am particularly disappointed that we let you down in this instance. I will... More

I have stayed at the Sydney Beachhouse YHA on many trips to Sydney over the last 10 years, and have to say it is the most friendly and warm nice place to stay. I have made good friends there as people of all ages and nationalities are there. Not just youngsters. Indeed I have a friend from UK who goes... More

This was a less expensive alternative for me and my daughter who was 15 at the time. Mostly students and a nice environment. Loved it, would stay there again. This is for backpackers and people on a budget

We stayed here for quite awhile. The beach was very close. Staff were friendly. Rooms clean. Nice common area. Very nice area without the hustle and bustle of central Sydney. I would recommend this hostel. One of the nicest I stayed in while in Australia.

Poorly ventilated, pretty cramped rooms with almost inaccessible power points are the least of the problems at this place. If you're accustomed to a modern approach to people who don't have white skin, this isn't the place for you. All but two of the staff were invariably unhelpful and terse to our group, but not at all to people with... More

Dear AT, Thank you for taking the time to review our hostel. I certainly take seriously the allegations you have made, and would appreciate a meeting to discuss further. In my nine years here, I have never seen racism from our staff, though I have asked a number of guests to leave for making racial slurs against others staying here.... More
