we bought fish right from the fisherman who came in off the water,and the cook made us a lovely meal of it!!privacy great walks on the beach...my first sun burn ever !!! the beach is a stones throw away ,and you can hear the water at night while you are in bed ...very afforable.polite staff and close to the market by cab for only $3. 00 we washed clothes by hand and hung them on the clotheline. I can't wait to come back to Jamaica and the south shore will be my base .If you are looking to see Jamaica on a budget check out this place!!! more

I stayed at the South Shore Guest House in Black River Jamaica for 9 days. I had room 12. It was very clean & peaceful. The staff was accomodating & left us to enjoy ourselves. This is a no hassle place that I enjoyed very much. The breakfast pricing was less than $5 for full meal. The room was very clean & bath had a tub. Came with hot water & A/C. Cleaning staff cleaned everyday. The room had a lovely view of the ocean. For the price of $45 or less, I will stay here again & again.

There was a fully stocked bar. Grounds were very well kept & pretty. My only suggestion would be for them to rake the beach from the night before sea weed. Lovely lovely views!!!
