We have been regularly drinking in the Royal Oak for about two years. During this time the place seems to be becoming more and more shabby ,does not look the same place as the photographs shown on their website. Light bulbs often need replacing in the coffee lounge. Sometimes tables can be in need of clearing of glasses and coffee... More

Second time I've stayed at the Royal Oak, both times really good. Staff are really friendly and helpful, rooms are good and beds comfortable. Good range of beer in the bar. Good breakfast. Good coffee to takeaway. We called back for lunch after the site visit and we had an excellent lunch, glad we did.

Difficult for arrival by car till you know where the entrance to the car park is at the back. Very obliging and helpful staff who were prepared to accommodate my dog even though he was not expected, thank you. Very busy pub but as a result of the Christmas closedown and the staff coped and we were not inconvenienced. Nice... More

I live locally and only went here recently for a family meal. I've been to The Royal Oak before for coffee, but this was my first time going there for a full on restaurant experience. As always, the staff were very welcoming, friendly and polite and the food was well-cooked and tasty. My complaints are as follows: There was a... More

Had an over night stay there recently... From the moment we walked in, staff were very welcoming, friendly and exceptionally helpful. Had an evening meal there. Beautiful. didn't wait long between courses, and cooked to our exact requirements. Will definitely recommend this to family and friends!!

We booked 2 nights at the royal oak, easy to find the hotel, difficult to find the car park, there is a one way system in welshpool, you have to go through the town and turn right further up from hotel and go sort of back on yourself, the car park is not easy to find, not very well sign... More

I booked a three nights stay end of october via the hotels' website. As common I had to give credit card details to cover not showing up. The confirmation stated the amount would be taken later. However before leaving home my credit card statement had arrived and I saw they had taken the full amount On arrival we checked in.... More

Stayed at this hotel on a recent trip to Welshpool. Firstly the car park is difficult to find. There is no obvious sign posts to direct people to the car park. Eventually I had to park my car on the Main Street and go into the hotel to find out where the car park was located. When I finally managed... More

The Royal Oak in Welshpool turned out to be our only hope of a decent, gluten free, lunch in town. Unfortunate timing meant that our first choice, Bistro7, was having a kitchen refurb and couldn't provide their normal range of options! Ah well, maybe next time we're in the area? So we did a quick trawl of the other pubs... More

A friend, my wife and I had a two night stay recently at the Royal Oak Hotel, Welshpool. The hotel can be found quite easily, but you need directions to find the car park entrance. A member of staff accompanied our friend in her car to give directions to the car park. All staff on our arrival were cheerful and... More
