We have just had an overnight stay and can't recommend enough to all you dog lovers out there. We booked at the last minute and had our West Highland Terrier with us and we were made very welcome indeed. We booked a table in the hotel for dinner and they laid a table for us in the bar so that... More

Four poster bed very comfy. Tv tiny and too far from bed. Really old fashion decor, shower (can I call it a shower?) fell from holder on my head, hardly no water coming from it anyways. Chip in bath. Towels were nice though. Onlooking the very noisy Main Street and that bloomin street clock chimes all night!!!!! Floors feel as... More

In the defence of the Wynnstay that we have used on many occasions it is an old coaching house and noise and uneven floorboards just happen. Suggest stick to a formulaic box in future and you will not be disappointed. The building is old and has character. This comes at a price and unless you are prepared to pay Chewton... More

We stayed for one night. Lovely hotel with an old fashioned welcoming atmosphere. We took the option of booking dinner, bed and breakfast. The dinner was excellent, good selection of typical Welsh food, most of the meat and fish sourced locally. The room was nice, don't expect a modern perfect bathroom, it is an old property, but we had an... More

We spent 1 night in this hotel during our winter trip around Wales. Cosy hotel in the town center. Distinctive decor, even if aged, as the whole hotel. Bear in mind that there is a very bad phone network, and WiFi is available and free but only in the lounge. Surprisingly good the restaurant, very characteristic with tables close to... More

I last stayed at, and reviewed, this hotel in July last year and it's as good as ever. The staff are brilliant, they can't do enough for you and are always friendly but not in an obsequious way. The room, which had the big 4 poster bed, was very comfortable, lovely clean white bedding and beautiful big towels. Tea, coffee, drinking... More

Nice hotel with plenty of character - even if the rooms are slightly out dated. A make or problem for me was the town clock (100m away) keeping me awake by chiming every 15 minutes throughout the night. There are also some rooms with no Wifi coverage.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to give us your feedback. The Town Clock is the Marmite of Machynlleth- people either love it or hate it! I'm sorry you fall into the latter category, we have attempted to ameliorate the situation both by negotiation and installation of a secondary glazing system, although being a listed bulding that is... This is a very family friendly hotel with comfortable rooms and a good bar area with a small dining room. The menu was well populated with good choice of food and the food was excellant. The breakfast room is large and can be used fro wedding parties etc. The breakfast was good but lacked a little bit of polish like... More

As another reviewer commented....quirky My wife and I love the atmosphere A bit shabby ..certainly,but warm and comfortable with pleasant friendly service which was informal ...we like it that way The room was a bit warn but the bed was comfortable with a large bathroom ,a huge bath and lashings of hot water. Stayed at the Wynnstay for one night with friends. The hotel was cosy, comfortable and friendly. The bar had a lovely atmosphere and we hogged the sofas! We had a good evening meal with lots of local produce on the menu and nice service. The rooms were clean and warm. We would stay there again.
