This is a typical Powys county hotel apart from the food which is very good. The rooms are clean and comfortable although the furniture like the wardrobes etc look like they belong to the 1950s. The standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel is very good and the staff are very friendly. The food is excellent breakfast lunch evening meal. There's... More

We had a very comfortable, cosy stay at the Wynnstay. The room and bed were very comfortable, the staff were friendly, and the food, oh my goodness the food was AMAZING - they have one seriously brilliant chef. The only minus point was that the water pressure in the shower was a bit low (our room was on the second... More

The world has moved on but I guess because it has no competition the Wynnstay thinks it doesn't need to spend money updating. Yes, it has plenty of old world charm but it has the potential to be so much better. The good: Friendly helpful staff. A terrific chef. Location. In-room tea and coffee replenished daily. Clean bath and bed... More

Check in was swift and made my way to my room. The hotel is very typical of one of it's age, floors are uneven and doors of all shapes and sizes! My room was spacious enough (double) and nice comfy bed, pillows & plump duvet. TV was a little small but only watched the early morning news so no great... More

Just back from another visit to Machynlleth and of course once again elected to base myself at the Wynnstay. The welcome at the hotel is genuine, all the staff were helpful and friendly, and chef Gareth Johns took time out from his busy schedule to have a chat. The food, as ever, was very good indeed, and their whinberry tartlets... More

Hotel in desperate need of refurbishment along with customer service skill trying course for the staff. Not helpful throughout our stay. We arrived at the hotel 11-10pm asked for a drink, refused. Bedrooms very old, chipped paintwork, odd musty smells in the hotel.

Stayed here for 2 nights whist visiting the wonderful Dyfi Osprey Project. The staff were all charming and friendly, whilst the locally sourced food was exceptional. We enjoyed two evening meals of lamb, lobster, and fish;all perfectly cooked and presented. The Welsh cheeseboard was a highlight, and the homemade soda bread so delicious that I bought some to take home.(Any chance... More

Our arrival was a bit confusing - the first room we went to already had luggage in it.. as did a second one.. but once resolved we had a large clean twin room. The hotel is full of character so don't expect a bland 'Premier Inn' style - the floors creek and the hot water was unpredictable - but it... More

We recently travelled from north Wales to Carmarthen on a Sunday and wanted a restful place to have our lunch. We were lucky enough to get the last table in the dining room and had a traditional Sunday lunch served by friendly and efficient waitresses.

Recently stayed at the Wynnstay for one night arriving late and leaving early. Very friendly welcome, excellent room - clean and tidy. Breakfast very good. If ever in Mach again I would definitively return.
