My partner and I visited Machynlleth while staying in Aberdovey on a cold January day and wanted to warm up after walking and have a light lunch - so glad we popped into here! We can't review the hotel part, but can recommend the food and the cosy, welcoming atmosphere of the pub. There was a roaring fire in a... More

Didnt stay in the hotel part ,we called in whilst visiting Machynlleth and ended up having a superb lunch , 4 of us ordered different meals from the menu (good selection) and all arrived promptly, hot and we thought excellent value for money. Well done to the staff , nice to see a smile for tourists !

I stayed here for two nights with my husband, room was clean, toiletries provided, only one bath towel each. Unfortunately the shower riser rail was broken so you couldn't alter the height of the shower, there was a sign saying to leave towels for washing in bath or shower, we left one after our first night and when we returned... I just had the pate - enough for me, definitely homemade and very tasty. Could perhaps have done with another piece of toast, but no complaints as excellent. Husband went for roast lamb, well cooked vegs, real gravy and mint sauce. Definitely would recommend.

As other reviewers have noted this is a pub with rooms so there's no separate reception. The double room on the second floor was OK and the bed was comfortable but the switch for the TV was only just below the ceiling. I had to stand on a chair to turn it on. Meals were well cooked. I'd describe it... More

On arrival, had to queue at a busy bar for check in (there is no reception). Staff busy serving regulars and not welcoming at all. Did not even bother to tell me where the room was. The room was comfortable but very dated and cramped and located over the kitchen. The access to the room was up a grubby staircase... More

I had the mixed grill here and thought it would be an easy meal to complete as I've had loads in the past, but to my surprise it was a challenge and the tastiest challenge I've ever had, normally chips are small and easy but these were chunky chips the way a heavy meal like this should be, the meats... Mmmmmm, a dog sat eating at a table - I would like to have seen that!!! (Previous review) just called in here for a drink with the family, and dogs, while waiting to pick up a Chinese takeaway. A great atmosphere on an early Saturday evening. Lots of families, and dogs, in the bar. The food looks good, large plates... More

Stay for a night while travelling through the area. The room was clean and well appointed. The ensuite was also clean. Breakfast was ok as was dinner. The hotel does need to review the policy of pets in the bar as this does not seem to be hygienic. A person was feeding a dog which was sat at a table.
