I have visited the White Lion on a number of occasions now and it has always been great. There is a big fire for those colder days and great food. The rooms are spacious, some with en-suit and others with shared facilities, but I never had to wait. There are a range of breakfast options. I would recommend anything with... More

A very nice stay, immense family room fitted out to a high standard. Floors very uneven and creaky, so no sneaking about after lights out. Great staff and a delicious full breakfast customised to individual choices. Only bad point is the number of stairs to the rooms, not good for anyone with walking difficulties.

We didn't stay in the hotel part during a short break in Machynlleth but had two evening meals here. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and attentive. We certainly recommend this place for the warm welcome and a good hearty meal, reasonably priced.

My partner and I visited Machynlleth while staying in Aberdovey on a cold January day and wanted to warm up after walking and have a light lunch - so glad we popped into here! We can't review the hotel part, but can recommend the food and the cosy, welcoming atmosphere of the pub. There was a roaring fire in a... More

Didnt stay in the hotel part ,we called in whilst visiting Machynlleth and ended up having a superb lunch , 4 of us ordered different meals from the menu (good selection) and all arrived promptly, hot and we thought excellent value for money. Well done to the staff , nice to see a smile for tourists !

I stayed here for two nights with my husband, room was clean, toiletries provided, only one bath towel each. Unfortunately the shower riser rail was broken so you couldn't alter the height of the shower, there was a sign saying to leave towels for washing in bath or shower, we left one after our first night and when we returned... I just had the pate - enough for me, definitely homemade and very tasty. Could perhaps have done with another piece of toast, but no complaints as excellent. Husband went for roast lamb, well cooked vegs, real gravy and mint sauce. Definitely would recommend.

As other reviewers have noted this is a pub with rooms so there's no separate reception. The double room on the second floor was OK and the bed was comfortable but the switch for the TV was only just below the ceiling. I had to stand on a chair to turn it on. Meals were well cooked. I'd describe it... More
