Stopped in for a couple of drinks on the weekend as its is a friends local pub. New owners took over at the beginning of the year and although i dont entirley agree with the direction they have taken it is a lovely cosy little pub. For somewhere i can only assume is aimed at walkers/cyclists and in general outdoorsy... More

I was walking a section of the Glyndwr Way and was caught in very heavy rain and strong wind so decided to make my way down to the Star Inn. Despite the late hour, and at some inconvenience to herself, the owner made me very welcome and sorted out a room and meal for me. Then a pleasant evening in... More

Stayed Monday & Tuesday, late arrival on Monday, but warm welcome (plus good, and welcome, directions!). Fully refurbished and recently re-opened, you can't beat a team who appear to relish the challenge of running a good pub and eatery in such a remote location. Overall, there is still work to be done to complete the renovations, but things are loooking... More

Visited with family and friends last weekend. Nice atmosphere, friendly people and a good selection of beers! Made to feel very welcome by the new owners, Louise and Karin. We love the Star Inn’s location – it can't be faulted as it's very easy to access some of the most beautiful parts of Mid-Wales including the Cambrian Way and Glyndwr's... More

My wife and I stayed here for one night last night. I had read all the previously hostile reviews when the pub was under the ownership of others but they are now of historical/comical interest only. I had been watching on Facebook the progress of the rebuild/refurbishment by the new owner, Sue and was determined to pay a visit when... More

I was walking the Owain Glyndwr trail with 3 friends in Aug 2014 We were the first to stay in the hotel since its refurbishment. The rooms are of the highest standard in relation to fittings and comfort. There is a Sauna which was a surprise to my weary mates. The owner and her daughter were very helpful and friendly.... More

Camped here on my gold duke of Edinburgh expedition and can say with confidence that it's the most vile and un-maintained establishment I've been to for a long time. The field where we were told to camp was scattered with animal poo and the grass hadn't been cut in a very long time indeed. The barn which we were able... More

In the meantime I am sorry you had such a disappointing time when you camped last year. Perhaps at some time you might like to come and try us again! You might like... More

A quite special experience. The landlady is not so young, has obvious health problems, and has obviously lost with time basic skills as concerns service and friendliness. But food was not bad, the room was plain but OK (no cleanliness problem for me) ; for a walker this place is in a monopoly position if you want to have a... More

We were passing so decide to pop in for a beer . The landlady was in the kitchen and all we could hear was the microwave pinging. I looked at the optics on the wall and made a coment to my partner that they were all empty. My partner then shoulted "hello" and only a grunt was a reply. Then... More

This place is like a comedy sketch...the huffing, puffing and sighing of the landlady when we ordered each drink was farcical. Then, when I ordered Salt and Vinegar crisps I was told in one word...plain! Thought she had misheard and repeated the request to be told "Theres a jug of vinegar over there i could throw on 'em" !!! Why... More
