The service here was very good. We visited ( 2 years ago) and it was OK. But it was MUCH better this year. We had a very helpful, convivial waiter and I think the ladies' loos, in the bar area, have been refurbished. They are now very nice. I didn't even 'go there' asking about gluten free, 2 years ago,... More

Just returned from a 4 day hiking tour on Offa's Dyke - staying at a variety of hotels and inns overnight. The Horse and Jockey is that great combination of a real pub with friendly staff, terrific atmosphere and unexpectedly good accommodation. Top that off with a great selection of local beers and locally sourced food - and you've got... More

Quaint pub, were advised to book, so rang up, told didn't need to. Arrived and the place was empty! Rev James on draught, one of hub's favourite! The ladies ordered spritzers, which arrived quickly. Pints still not 15 mins later. Lady staff came to apologise and say they were changing the barrel. Meals ordered. Ten mins later, beers arrived. 40... More

Excellent night at this great pub. Our rooms were lovely, clean, comfy, nicely decorated and huge bathroom. The owner and staff were brilliant and the locals in the snug bar made us very welcome. Enjoyed a superb pizza and the full welsh breakfast was perfect. We will be back when the weather is sunny to enjoy the courtyard

We stayed in Boozey, a twin room with ensuite accommodation. The room is a decent size and is entered by walking along an exterior wooden stairway and on entering is a step down straight into the room. Although the entry step has heavy duty carpeting, the rest of the room is lesser hard-wearing but softer which easily shows marks. A... More

I'll start by saying that this place is exactly what I was looking for and excellent value. It has so much character, but I would say possibly too much character for some people. If you are looking for a modern, linear experience you should probably try elsewhere but if you want a historic old building that has been renovated extremely... More

I stayed here less than four months ago, and didn't expect much to have changed. In fact, there was one big change... the owners were away and the young man who checked me in said that it was room-only, with no breakfast. I might have walked away, but fortunately for him, I actually wanted to be able to leave very... More

2 of the 3 of our group stayed in The Cottage at the Horse and Jockey. It is very old with loads of character. My twin bed was very comfortable. It had a very good shower. The only down side of the room was that the front door is right on the road and lorries occasionally woke me up in... More

My friend and I stayed in May whilst walking the first half of Offa's Dyke, we returned for a second stay whilst we completed the second half of the walk but this time we were armed with ear plugs to make sure we were prepared for the noise from locals in the courtyard below the rooms. The staff are really... More

The rooms are arranged in what was the hay loft above the stables of this 14th century coaching in. Access is via a wooden staircase from the courtyard. We stayed in the Tollant room. Due to listed building status the spacious room has just one window which leaves the room a bit dark, given that the "main" lights are spotlights... More
