We had lovely lunch food good but served on cold plates which in my view is useless .Hot food should go on hot plates .also a smile from the lady who served the food would not go amiss.Did not complain because partner said not to.Not the first time this has happened there.A little attention to detail and a smile would... Stayed recently for a couple nights while biking Transcambrian. Food was great and the general atmosphere in the bar very welcoming. Rooms clean but small. One problem was an issue with the water pressure when several people were showering/bathing at same time. nevertheless would recommend for a cheap overnight. Note, no parking. Although spaces nearby.

Probably one of the nicest meals I have every had if I am honest! Not only that, but they catered for a group of 20 of us in a very timely and orderly manner. And as per the title, ever course was so fresh and tasty that words alone cannot describe it..... utterly fantastic. Hats of the chef and the... More

We stayed here for 4 nights while walking Offa's Dyke, a convenient base with easy access to the route on foot, by bus and taxi. Spacious and comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Enjoyed local cider in the cosy bar before hearty, well-cooked food from the varied menu. Breakfast equally good. Great staff - friendly, attentive and helpful. We really enjoyed being... More

We spent all afternoon watching rugby in the middle bar, were made to feel very welcome and food was freshly cooked and delicious. Really recommend the battered fish and chips and fruit crumble. Good place to play cards in evenings.

My wife and I stayed for one night whilst attending a wedding. The rooms at this historic inn have been upgraded with modern bathrooms, albeit not of the highest quality. The standard of room cleanliness was not up to expectations and it smelt quite musty. The beds, like the bathrooms are not top quality and creaked badly. The staff were... More

Stayed for one night in August. Met up with family members and arrived just before lunch. A warm welcome, quick and efficient check in and very comfortable rooms. The food and the service is excellent and we would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for one night in July, we found checking no problem, quick and efficient, our room was a large double and nice clean and tidy, nice wooden beams and a high ceiling, a lovely big bathroom which had plenty of light from the window in the roof. We had a lovely meal which we ate in the bar rather... More

We enjoyed a very nice meal here, nice setting, good value and excellent service. I would certainly recommend if you are staying in the area, make sure you book in advance though as it gets very busy.

Stayed here for 1 night while doing the Offa's Dyke walk. Really nice room in the converted hay barn, with lots of old beams and modern ensuite. The staff were friendly and efficient. Had an evening meal (make sure you book if on a weekend as they were turning people away) which was excellent and very reasonably priced. The breakfast... More
