Stayed here at the end of three days walking Offa's Dyke. It's a basic B&B: one bathroom between the three rooms (bath and shower), and no TV or kettle in the room (you can make tea in the kitchen). However it has the feel of a real home: the rooms are decorated with art and other mementos and are lined... More

Penny is such a pleasure to stay with, she's so relaxed and so was our stay. Our room was cosy and the bed's were very comfy. The bathroom is shared but that's not a problem as there's a separate loo/shower. The cooked breakfast was enormous and cooked however you wanted it, the continental one was much more basic but was... More

Walking Offa's Dyke, this was the perfect stopover in Knighton. Penny was a charming host, keen to chat and share tales, anecdotes and experiences. The house itself is crammed with books, posters and artefacts from all over the world. The stairs creak, some of the windows don't open and there is a sense of mild chaos about the place. On... Stayed here at the start of Glyndwr's Way. I was by myself and made to feel very much at home by Penny my host. After I went to the pub for an evening meal we chatted for hours sharing stories and experiences. It's a cosy cottage, crammed full of artefacts and books from an eclectic life. The bedroom was small... More

I stayed at Whytcwm on the night before starting Glyndwr's Way. Great value, very comfortable and not far from the railway or start of walk. Penny is a wonderful host - as well as having a bagful of super interesting stories from her super interesting life, she's also a keen listener. It was a very happy experience staying in the... Four of us stayed with Penny while walking some of Glyndwrs Way. We loved her cottage - small but cosy and full of interesting books and art from Penny's life and travels. The best bit though was the relaxed feel - 'help yourself to tea or coffee!' and an excellent breakfast to set us up for the next days walk.... More

Great little cottage just off the main road in Knighton. Rooms very comfortable & cosy. Penny was a great hostess in a very bohemian feeling cottage. Her home is full of artefacts & plenty of books to read, however it was most definitely her breakfasts that were fantastic. These set us up (5 of us) for a long weekend of... More

Well I arrived rather smelly from Offas Dyke (where manure had been freshly spread on one field/path) and yet was made to feel very welcome. My single room was nice and big. Shared "luxury" bathroom nice and clean, my soak there was very much appreciated (and I was urged by Penny to make it as deep as i likes). There... More

Whytcwm Cottage is a lovely place just a few minutes walk from the main street of the town. Rooms are comfortable and clean, breakfast is very good. There is a separate common room for the guests. There is also good internet connection. The price is very reasonable. But the best thing is the kindness of Penny, the host. She is... More

This isn't the most luxurious place I stayed at when walking the Dyke, but it was one of the most welcoming and memorable. Penny made us very much at home in her characterful house, full of paintings, artefacts, and books, fed us a great breakfast, and we went on our way, relaxed, and full of energy.
