The people who run this could not have been nicer, they were very helpful and friendly. So nice I did not have the heart to say anything, but the food did not hit the mark for me. I believe that they are fairly new to pub, so these things always take time to settle, I really do wish them all... More

Paid our first visit to The Carpenters since Lee and Allison have taken over. Had a Sunday carvery 12 April. Lovely welcome on our arrival and the meal was first class. All the waitresses and waiter were also very polite and welcoming. We will be returning again soon for sure.

We stopped here after passing by and had never been here before. We didn't stay here as only stopped for food. We had a lovely meal for all the family. The steaks were delicious and the staff friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended and hope to visit again when we are down here next time.

We booked the carpenters with a little trepidation as new owners and not many reviews on here. How pleased we are that we did stay here. It's only a 10 minute walk into town and you are out of the chaos of the busy noisy pubs. The new owners, Jason and his wife are juggling their new venture with a... More

Went here again with my Dad and can only say what great value, and also for us, cleanliness is a must and "the Carps" meets this criteria always. The owners are great and nothing is to much trouble. Can't wait for my next Gammon Steak. "The Carps" also manages to keep the feeling of an old village pub. We have never stayed here... More

We rolled up to the Carpenters arms on bank holiday Monday lunch time battling through the high winds and pouring rain. We were the first ones there but had a great welcome from the owner who cheered us right up. We sat in the cosy restaurant side and both ordered the gammon, what came was almost half a pig lol!...
