A very disappointing weekend stay. The website photos are misleading and hide the shoddy internal appearance. The bedroom walls are paper thin, curtains threadbare and there are no black out blinds - forget sleeping. The rooms were hot and stuffy, despite open windows - a condition of single skin walls and no insulation. To add insult to injury we had... more

At this price (£110 per night) you would expect some level of away-from-home comfort, but that is not what the Old Cross Hotel offers. It’s rooms are small with chintzy décor, the bathrooms have 1960s porcelain, and the mattresses have springs that stick into you. All this is liveable with – were it not for two things: the Rookery on... more

I have stayed at the Old Cross Hotel twice now and it's ok. The bar serves good food, the hotel is clean and tidy, and the location is great. The whole place could do with some modernisation, but part of the hotel's charm is its appearace. more

Having read some of the "negative" reviews about The Old Cross Hotel I felt I should add mine which is based upon a personal experience extending over 20 years. The exterior of the Hotel gives a sense of character and that is repeated in the ambience inside. But that charm has not stopped the Hotel from offering clean and "more... more

This was the second time we have stayed in the Old Cross - I have an affection for the place, and St Davids is a wonderful little city, but I have to agree with some of the comments about the interior and the price - it really is ridiculous to pay so much. Good points: brilliant location in the middle... more

Not a good experience. Couldn't wait to get away from here. While the location in the centre of St David's is good and the exterior of the hotel looks OK, the interior is dated and depressing. The whole place has a tired and dated feel to it - the wallpaper and curtains seem to be from the 1970's. Carpets are... more

The hotel looks great from the outside but inside could do with updating. We stayed in a triple bedded ensuite room as the family room was not available. There was plenty of room for the two of us and our 6 year old daughter. The room and bathroom were very clean and had basic facilities (TV, Tea and Coffee, Hairdryer... more

I can only imagine that the other reviews here were written by people who secured a deal/booked months in advance/booked out of season. We stayed at the Old Cross Hotel for three nights at the end of July, and were charged over £100 per night. Probably we paid for the location, but I would have expected a great deal more.... more

Just returned from a 5 night stay at The Old Cross Hotel in St Davids, Pembrokeshire. Our room was large, light, clean and pleasant. The bed was very large and very very comfortable. The bathroom was also large with bath, shower, basin and toilet and really nice towels warmed by the towel rail. The restaurant was bright and comfortable, seats... more

I enjoyed my few days here. It is a pleasant enough hotel right in the centre of St David's, with very friendly staff. more
