This is very much a local pub, and little effort has been made to make it family friendly or appeal to tourists. I approve. The beer selection was modest, but what they had was delicious. When we were there, they were only serving Chinese food. I was a bit concerned, as of all the world's cuisines Chinese is the one... More

We have just returned from spending New Year down in beautiful Solva. Although we have been to The George many many times I just wanted to tell everyone what a great pub this is. Friendly staff and locals alike. We are always made to feel very welcome. Special thanks to Barry and Mary.

£70 a night in August for a room with lovely views over Solva and the estuary wasn't too bad. Our hostess, despite late nights and early mornings, was always bubbly and happy and although the bar eating area could have been cleaner the breakfast was hearty and well cooked. The pub was very busy but closed on time and the... More

We called in for Sunday lunch ordered 1 pork and one beef, the lunches were brought out promptly. Very very disappointing I had the beef, no yorkshire, beef that didn't really amount to a slice, 3 small roast potatoes, no other choice of potatoes, over cooked cauli and broccolli, carrots not enough for one person, leeks in cheese sauce which... Had an excellent stay at this hotel. The Landlord and locals were very friendly and ensured our stay was a great one. The rooms were very clean and tidy, the food was great and generally the place had a good atmosphere. Would definitely revisit. Highly recommended!

I stayed here not long ago. Would i stay again? Not by choice ! The pub its self has a great sea view and the beer and atmosphere is top notch. However the rooms leave a lot to be desired and have seen better days. Also 6 power cuts in one night is a bit much!. That said the bar... More

Had a great time yesterday. Beer festival in full swing. Some very good live folk music. Hog roast on the go. Could also have sausage or burgers. my wife was coeliac and unable to eat the bread rolls so a salad was quickly prepared. Stayed and had a very good evening meal. The pub has a very friendly atmosphere and... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights in the middle of a longer holiday in West Wales. We thought proper local pubs had all vanished but the Royal George in Solva is a genuine local boozer and community centre! The room was OK though the promised sea view wasn't there. Brekky was very good and the dog did not... More

Stayed at the Royal George for 1 night 2 or 3 weeks ago and found a gem of a pub with great sea views and a lovely local atmosphere. The local catch was being unloaded as we arrived and on the specials board that night. I had stayed here a few years before and surprisingly was remembered by the landlord... More

This is an excellent base for walking the Pembrokeshire Coast path. The breakfasts are really good and really set you up for the day. The evening specials are equally good. Staff are friendly and accommodating. One day we really fancied the crab salad and mentioned it to the landlord. He specially ordered fresh crab from a local fisherman just for... More
