This is by far the best lodging we had on a recent walking tour. The warm, unpretentious welcome, the amazing and authentic character of the house with its endowment of interesting / quality antique furniture and rugs, its spacious rooms, its views, and the whole atmosphere made it an antidote to the ugly, modern, mean accommodations usually available at the... This is a large, old, rambling established family home (three terraced houses made into one) preserved by it’s somewhat “Patrician” (persons of refined upbringing, manners, and tastes) owners: Elizabeth and John. Both are not in the least pretentious, but just real characters and charming hosts. Coming to stay at Allenbrook is somewhat like staying at your eccentric, atmospheric Aunties house,... More

A warm welcome awaits you at the Allenbrook a lovely old house with all the modern facilities and large rooms as required by todays travellers , breakfast was excellent just what is needed before walking the coastal path , waking up with the sun shinning through your bedroom window , peacocks wondering around the lovely large garden a tranquil place... The setting in the centre of Dales is ideal. The property, set in a beautiful garden, looks as though it comprises a number of separate houses that have been combined a long time ago. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and well appointed. The owners are friendly and hospitable and the decor, as I said in the title, packed with... More

Allanbrook is a long, white building covered with ivy and a few minutes walk through the ground to the sea. Elizabeth, one of the proprieters is an artist and her choice of decor shows this. Colours, patterns and furniture are chosen to create an atmosphere of rural gentlity. I love the long hall, the Indian rugs, the artefacts, the white... More

Such a lovely country house. Not pretentious but full of easy hospitality. Our room was large and its bathroom huge with a truly Victorian free standing bath. As the only pub in Dale was not yet open for the season the proprietors drove us three miles to the nearest village for pub food. Wonderful hospitality! Would definitely recommend.

Walking into Allenbrook is like walking into a film set. It's so perfectly redolent of a certain style and era that it's almost slightly unreal or otherworldly. The peacocks and guinea fowl set it all off perfectly! This is a wonderful place. A B&B, the likes of which you will rarely find. My friends and I had a wonderful time... More

We stayed one night only (fully booked). Allenbrook is a characterful old house with a large garden full of beautiful and some quite exotic-looking plants, not to mention a couple of peacocks. Our room was very large and well furnished with antique style furniture. If you want modern, this might not be the place for you, but if you like... More

I stayed here overnight whilst walking the Pembrokeshire coast path. What a beautiful house, and what good hosts. The house is full of character and fascinating pieces of furniture. After a day's walking, a good soak in the bath was a real treat, and the room was clean and comfortable. Comments in the guest book, and indeed, comments from other... More

We loved our stay in this guest house. Friendly, no fuss hosts and delightful accommodation with amazing Welsh oak furniture and oriental capets and lovely grounds. Comfy beds and breakfast was good - we hope to return! :-)
