Lampeter is remote as it gets in mid Wales but it's a lovely little town that's well worth a visit. At £30 for a night with breakfast (single room), you'll struggle to find a better value for money, place to stay anywhere..I was there on work..plenty of car parking behind the hotel and a decent range of beers and pub... For what I paid for my stay, bed and breakfast, it worked out to be good value. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable though the room was very hot and that was with the radiator turned off. Although the hot water in the sink and bath was red hot it was only just warm coming out of... More

Stayed for one night as needed to be in area on business before getting the Pembroke ferry the next day. Adequate room, not smart trendy furnishings, but very clean and presentable (with nice clean bedding) albeit tired and in need of redecoration. Bathroom was a bit of a sauna with some kind of underfloor heating (room 209), but better warm... More

Just want to say what a great stay I had at the Black Lion on Monday Night (2/2/2015), The room was good value for money and the food both in the evening and Breakfast in the Restaurant was second to none as pub food goes. I would like to especially thank the bar staff for a friendly service and a... More

I stayed at the Black Lion on a business trip and really did not have a clue what to expect before arriving but was pleasantly surprised! The rooms are comfortable and are incredible value - for the price, I do not think they could be beaten. Yes, there are no fancy extras, but the hotel provides a warm room, comfortable... More

Yes, you could quibble on a few things here - the TV only has one channel and there are no remote controls (a former staff member told me that none of the rooms have remotes), plus the curtains were only just attached to the curtain rail ... but the bed was comfy, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were... This was our second stay at the Black Lion and we found the room (103) to be comfortable and clean but in need of some minor maintenance. The wall paper was showing its age, and the shower, while providing hot water, had loose fittings and only limited pressure. The room was particularly warm, and heat was regulated by opening the... Beds clean and comfortable, breakfasts good, staff friendly Room very poor, old tired, rundown and a bit grubby looking, wall paper ripped and peeling, curtains broken and could not be drawn, room very cold on arrival heating had not been turned on yet one of the coldest days of the year. No sockets near beds so no bedside lights, no... More

We loved it. The place is very 'lived in' but we enjoyed the feeling of that. How ever if the brewer 'Brains' chucked just a few quid at the place. It would be lovely. Staff are lovely and helpful. It's good value for money and what more can you ask for? Want perfect decor? Find a travel lodge. Even that's... More

Had a great weeks holiday here, Hotel is great value and the breakfast was lovely, Great base to explore the area from, We would use this hotel again. Staff were really nice and helpful, the clock across the road is very loud but you get used to it.
