My stay at Great Tre Rhew farm was wonderful. The family is so welcoming, and the breakfasts were delicious. It was great to see the working farm in action, and the location is fantastic - easily accessible from A roads, gorgeous views, and within easy driving distance of castles, hiking, horseback riding, good restaurants, and the book-lovers' paradise of Hay-on-Wye.... This was a great opportunity to stay with an extended Welsh family on their farm. The rooms were old and quaint - there was a share bathroom but we were the only people staying on that side of the farmhouse. Dinner was basic and overcooked from our point of view but perhaps that's the local custom. The apple pie however... More

Normally I don’t leave comments on websites but after reading a remark made about this place I felt compelled to write about our own experience at Great Tre-Rhew Farm. This is the idyllic place to be – a place you think only exists in books. We stayed there during the summer and we were met with the warmest of welcomes.... More

They offered me and my family alcoholic drinks like you would offer someone a cup of tea and then the next day decided to charge us for them. This place doesnt have a licence to sell alcohol and... Unfortunately this place was quite a disappointment. Arrived from a heavy days walking alsong Offas Dyke. When we arrived reception was ok, but there was not hot water for a few hours. We ere offered a three course meal, however the food was far from brilliant. Please note that if they offer you a drink this will be charged extra,... More

On a working farm dating back to the 15th century. Lots of space and outside of bedrooms use of 3 other rooms: dining room, "games" room and tv room. The hosts are very welcoming and attentive. Very quiet location well off the road (which is quiet anyway!) We all had the evening meal too, which was an excellent hearty 3... More

Great Tre-Rhew is a working farm with a historic farm house dating back to 1420 with oak beams and log fires. The house is roomy and well appointed. Guests have use of three large common rooms in addition to their bedroom. The Beavans are terrific hosts and set a great table. The farm is perfectly located for hiking/biking the gorgeous... More
