Booked three nights midweek at the hotel (so missed out on the medieval banquet) and found the experience memorable for all the right reasons. The setting, both in the town and in the grounds, was beautiful and made for a lovely early-evening walk as we explored them. The double room in the castle, only a standard, was huge with a... more

I stayed with a large family party at the hotel at the end of June 2008. On arrival we were greeted by 2 extremely rude receptionists who didn't even say hello and welcome us to the hotel. They simply demanded £50 off each twin room booking and went about processing this transaction with no explanation that the money was actually... more

We are very sorry to read this review but have no record of receiving any communication with a complaint of this nature or of any complaint of this nature being made by a departing guest. Neither can we investigate the review without the name and date of stay. Porters are on duty 24 hours and are always available to assist...

Nice room, lovely views, but the plumbing needs a vent pipe as you get' blowback' from the loo which is very noisy, especially from your neighbours in the middle of the night,..not old plumbing as they plead in the info book, but new plumbing incorrectly done. As they were busy with a wedding late pm on the first night we... more

Ok it may not have the mod cons that other hotels have but for atmosphere and history the hotel was fantastic. Huge rooms, excellent staff, good food (although did not have breakfast) and so much to look at, even tales of a few ghosts roaming the hotel and grounds! watch out for the pheasants though, they will randomly wander into... more

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in May 2008 to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. We stayed in one of the Royal Salons - the highest category rooms. It was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Superking size bed, double ended bath, plasma tv etc. Tip: be sure and request one of the refurbished rooms - not... more

I didn't know what to buy my husband for Christmas - so I bought him (and me of course) a weekend in Ruthin Castle including the medieval banquet. We arrived on Saturday 23 Feb, hopped into a local pub to watch Wales beat Italy (Yey). then booked into the caslte intself, we were given a top floor turret room which... more

My husband and I found this GORGEOUS castle after a picturesque drive. The room was well appointed and clean. The staff on reception were incredibly helpful and warm. The location is so central in Ruthin itself. Unusual for a castle to be a part of the town like that, so it was great for walking. The only thing that made... more

We are very sorry that the dining experience was unsatisfactory and apologise. In March 2008 a new experienced Restaurant Manager was appointed and has substantially improved the standards of service to a level that supports the award-winning food produced by the Chef.

A real castle in its own grounds near an attractive town and surrounding countryside. Very impressive public rooms. There was a medieval banquet on the night we stayed - it looked a lot of fun but you need to book for this in advance. Good breakfast included. more

Having booked a cheaper un-refurbed room via Superbreak, I wish I had spent that little bit extra for a re-furbed room! Upon arrival at the hotel the grounds and the Castle really are as good as they look on the pics and internet. The reception area is very grand and suits the building perfectly. We checked in and were given... more
