I noticed that reviews of the Anchor are always encouraging.......but, if you're thinking about staying there, or even popping in for a drink....don't bother. The Anchor is no more. The owners have shut up shop. The hotel / inn is boarded up and quite an eyesore at present. However, if you're visiting Ruthin - don't despair. There are plenty of... More

We had a Thursday night here in October. The room was a bit on the snug side but perfectly adequate, very clean and with an efficient shower room, hospitality tray and flat screen TV. I had a hairdryer disaster and the one provided was a bit feeble, so Chris the manager volunteered to find a good one for me to... More

Just back from a three day stay, the room was pleasant and warm, the staff,Peter,Chris and everyone else where really friendly, the local's who came in where brilliant if not certifiable the banter was great, you really felt at home, although we ate out at night the food we did have was delicious (especially the bacon and sausages at breakfast. If you want a place that's... I have never stayed at the Anchor, but have often stopped for a meal. The staff are, as said elsewhere very friendly and do their best to make sure you enjoy your stay. The decor is, to be fair a little tired, but the food is good, the customers and staff are friendly and best of all they welcome well... More

We had originally planned to stay for just one night on our tour of Wales but booked in again for our last night as Chris, Dale and the rest of the staff were just so friendly and welcoming. We ate there both evenings as the food was so good and so reasonable and as a bonus a bottle of wine could... We booked in through a Buyagift wedding present for a 1 night romantic break with dinner on 26 May 2012 - 3 months later we just about calmed down sufficiently to post a review so that others aren't caught out When we arrived, we were told that breakfast the following morning would be served in the restaurant. However, the restaurant... More

Chris was extremely helpful when there was an issue with our Expedia booking. He made sure we had a room available for us, meaning we are now able to attend my friends wedding. Really looking forward to our visit!

Stayed here for one night, June 2012. It was coincidentally the Saturday night of the Ruthin Festival so there was a lot of activity in the town. The hotel was busy, the restaurant was full, well every restaurant in town was booked out. Chose to eat in the Anchor, opted to have our food in the lounge area. There was... More

Several friends who were staying at The Old Anchor whilst attending a motoring event locally invited us for dinner. The meals, for a group of eight, ordered from the menu were all freshly prepared and served by the chef himself. They were all tasty, of good quality and very reasonably priced. The group of friends who were resident there all... More
