This is a nice B&B and pub just east of the town of Ruthin that can be used it as a base for local exploration, attendance at the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen (about 40 min away), or a night's stop after hiking in the area. The host, Huw, takes hikers to various paths in the morning as noted on the... More

We organised a Church day out for 30 people, which ended at the Griffin. Huw, the landlord, was really helpful in the run-up, offering us a great two course menu (which we tried out on a recce- delicious!) for a very reasonable price, and he was very easy and businesslike to negotiate with. We arrived a little early, but Huw... More

Three friends and I had just tackled Moel Famau (mountain overlooked Llanbedr DC and Ruthin) in incredibly wet and cold cold conditions. With one of us injured, and all of us soaked through and shivering, we needed a place to stay as camping wasn't an option. A local cabbie recommended the Griffin and called through to them to arrange a... More

My wife were staying at the nearby Castle Hotel and we're recommend this restaurant by a member of staff for dinner. By no means plush, the dining areas were quaint but basic, well used tables & chairs. But the saving grace was the food, fantastic liver & onions with real mash potatoes, and the superb posh fish platter, cod, haddock... More

We've not stayed at the Griffin, but have eaten there several times, and the food is absolutely fantastic, and I am very pickky with my food. Couldnt believe how good it was, and the staff are so lovely. Top marks Griffin.

having visited the griffin on previous occasions and never fully satisfied with the meals which we thought were all frozen and microwaved, we decided to try the new owners out on a test drive well the result was that we had a perfectly enjoyable sunday lunch in nice surroundings and a lovely girl behind the bar who served our drinks... Under new management and well worth visiting this popular local and village inn. The food is excellent and you'll receive a warm welcome and pleasing level of personal service. Parking is easy, plenty of room and you're only five minutes from the centre of medieval Ruthin.

My wife and I were on our way to the welsh coast for a day out when came upon The Griffin. We were taken by its quirky old looks and decided to pop in for a cold drink. Well I love old pubs and the Griffin was just great. We sat outside in the sunny beer garden taking in the... More

We had a wonderful meal at the Griffin on Saturday 29th June 2013. The staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome, the food was done to perfection, and although other reviews on here said about the decor being old fashioned, we actually felt this added to the ambience of the Pub, the atmosphere was electric and buzzing but...
