we got a warm welcome from Ames and were shown to our room, we were asked what time we wanted breakfast, we felt very welcome, like being in a friends home. The room was a little old looking but was clean as was the bathroom, the bed was comfortable but there were only 3 pillows (these were quite flat) on... More

We booked this pub as it was situated at a convienenant stop off point on the Offas Dyke Path. When booking I was quoted £50 for a twin room b&b. No deposit was taken or requested and no conformation email was received despite two requests. This did not bode well! When we arrived we were greeted by Ben who was... More

The Griffin Inn is a handsome roadside inn, traditional, quirky and very friendly, with lots of covers and a couple of bars, attentive staff and a warm welcome. Sunday roast is ace, service very fast and the building, decor and atmosphere is fine. No pretensions, no unnecessary frills, no gastro pub fakery, just an honest wayside inn, eatery and rooms.... Whilst on holiday in North Wales, we visited friends in Flint for the day and they took us for a drive around the beautiful countryside and stopped at The Griffin for lunch. A traditional pub, slightly worn around the edges which added to the charm. The landlord was very friendly and welcoming which made a good start. A good variety... More

I stayed here the nights before and after my first day walking Offa's Dyke. It is in prime location for such trade, and other hostelries, further from the path, were full. The room was fine and bedding clean. The meals, for which I was joined by a number of friends both nights, were very average and slow in coming- though... More

This is a nice B&B and pub just east of the town of Ruthin that can be used it as a base for local exploration, attendance at the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen (about 40 min away), or a night's stop after hiking in the area. The host, Huw, takes hikers to various paths in the morning as noted on the... More

We organised a Church day out for 30 people, which ended at the Griffin. Huw, the landlord, was really helpful in the run-up, offering us a great two course menu (which we tried out on a recce- delicious!) for a very reasonable price, and he was very easy and businesslike to negotiate with. We arrived a little early, but Huw... More
