At first we thought oh dear, the front of the hotel suggested it was restaurant and we'd made a mistake, but then we were shown to the rear of the building because we had bikes which was where the rooms were, it was a nice restaurant and the rooms although not massive were perfectly adequate.

Our second night on the Offa's Dyke was comfortable, well run and excellent value for money. Rooms were well appointed and well located for checking out local pubs and we ate in the restaurant - book a table because they get busy - even on a Monday night when we were there. Breakfast a cut above the average, and the... More

The rooms are tired looking & lots of stairs to climb if you are on the 2nd or 3rd floors with poor lighting that goes on and off at the wrong time. Bed was only a double with a single bed in the room as well, would be far better of with just a kingsize bed.

We were only here for one night but the room was nice, despite not having a wardrobe of any sort. The staff were very nice and the breakfast was one of the best I've had in a B&B. I would happily stay again.

Three of us went for lunch, and all three thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the wine and the service. My wife and our friend started with the broad bean and pancetta soup, which they both declared was excellent. I had sautéed scallops with Jerusalem artichoke purée and this starter was delicious. A good Pinot Grigio helped this along. The main courses... More

The room was very clean and comfortable, but up several flights of stairs. The staff was great and helped us carry luggage up, then checked to make sure everything was OK in the room. The location in central Monmouth was perfect and within walking distance of museums, shops, and restaurants. Breakfast was one of the best meals that I had... More

We stayed overnight, and ate in the restaurant, for a family celebration. After a bit of shaky start, where we had to ring a mobile number to gain access to the premises (apparently the normal procedure for anyone arriving outside of meal service !) we were given the keys to the room no8 at the top (and front) of the... Stayed three nights midweek; basic accommodation, but clean and comfortable. Brilliant staff. Steve, owner/chef, couldn't have been more wecomng or helpful. Excellent breakfast, genuinely cooked to order. Ate in the bistro each night; first class food, modestly priced. Will certainly stop again if work takes me this way in the future.

We stayed here for just one night and were put right at the very top of the hotel, but didn't realise how high up we were until we started climbing! Not quite sure why we were put in the belfry as the hotel didn't seem full, but maybe decorating was being done. Unfortunately the room was freezing cold when we... More

I have nothing but admiration for a hostelry that manages to provide such a level of comfort for £65 a night. It’s a simple establishment, but then it IS called Bistro Prego and not The Grand, or Hotel Poncey. The rooms are brightly cheery and modern, the beds are firm, the duvet is thick and snuggly. And yes, I know... More
