A family get together was nearly totally spoilt by a booking problem but the Manager saved our weekend. We were 8 adults and 3 small children. The food was amazing for a pub. The menu was quite large so something to suit us all and every meal was delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast was equally as good and my bacon... More

We were travelling back to Yorkshire from Wiltshire and decided to break up the journey with site seeing and an overnight stay. Had considered Ross on Wye but were disappointed with the place so back tracked to Monmouth and really glad we did! Arriving in the town about 18:30 we ate in The Punch House. We parked on street, which... More

I stayed here with 5 members of my family, all in different rooms, all of different ages - due to a wedding we were attending in the area. We stayed just after the rooms were re -furbished and couldn;t have been more pleased with the value for money. The rooms are gorgeous and the pub below is very welcoming and... More

The punch house is situated on the main high street. Lots of shops, banks on the doorstep. Given its location in town it is not a super quiet place to stay if you want peace and tranquility. For us the location was great. Our room, room 4, was a great size with a four poster bed. Tea/coffee facilities. The bathroom... More

Recently refurbished to an excellent standard but let down at breakfast when the guests from a nearby hotel shared the facility as their kitchen was undergoing refurb. We had not been advised this was happening so waited 1.5 hours for a nicely cooked but tiny "full" breakfast. I imagine the chef had run out of food to cook. Otherwise a... More

For the benefit of non-UK readers, a little about Monmouth. A very English town which is currently just inside Wales at the confluence of the Rivers Wye and Monnow. Birthplace of Henry V (Agincourt and all that) and overlooked by the Kymin with its memorial to Nelson and other admirals of his time plus views over Wales to die for.... More

What can I say? These guys have it sussed. Was in Monmouth for work, and found the Punch House last minute. I was welcomed by enthusiastic and friendly staff, checked in and shown to my lovely room. The bed was fantastically comfy, and bathroom was clean and well fitted. I loved the room so much; I booked in for the... More

We stayed here for our theatre visit and it was excellent. Good friendly welcome, warm and comfortable room. Handy for both restaraunt and theatre - 100m distance max. 2 minutes walk to the car park. Breakfast was delicious - had the full english although other options were available. We are going back to test out the lunch time menu as... More

Stayed at The Punch House for 1 night over May Bank Holiday weekend, greeted warmly on arrival by friendly bar staff, taken up to our room (9) compact, but beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous. Monmouth itself is steeped in history, a couple of museums in the town, lovely church and friendly locals, definitely worth a... More
