Popped in on a rainy day for lunch with my wife and daughter. I ordered the all day breakfast expecting the standard pub fare - amazed to find that the fried mushroom actually tasted of mushroom not re-thawed gloop and the two sausages were fully of chunky meat. The rest of the family had steaks which they pronounced excellent.

My friend and I checked into Punch House for one night whilst walking The Wye Valley Walk. The young chap who checked us in was really helpful and carried our heavy cases upstairs as we were at the top of the building. Our room was spacious and comfortable but there was a leak from the sink in the bathroom and... More

We arrived at the Punch house late on a Friday night and from the off the friendly service was excellent and genuine. The manager even came and found me in the local car park to ensure I walked the shortest route back to the hotel whilst it was dark. The room was big, clean and very inviting after a long... More

Called into the town of Monmouth for a look, we liked the look of this place as there were many people sitting outside so it gave the impression that it was popular; very good choice of food on the menu, we opted for one of the large Texan burgers which was one of the best burgers ive ever tasted. Will... More

A family get together was nearly totally spoilt by a booking problem but the Manager saved our weekend. We were 8 adults and 3 small children. The food was amazing for a pub. The menu was quite large so something to suit us all and every meal was delicious and beautifully presented. Breakfast was equally as good and my bacon... More

We were travelling back to Yorkshire from Wiltshire and decided to break up the journey with site seeing and an overnight stay. Had considered Ross on Wye but were disappointed with the place so back tracked to Monmouth and really glad we did! Arriving in the town about 18:30 we ate in The Punch House. We parked on street, which... More

I stayed here with 5 members of my family, all in different rooms, all of different ages - due to a wedding we were attending in the area. We stayed just after the rooms were re -furbished and couldn;t have been more pleased with the value for money. The rooms are gorgeous and the pub below is very welcoming and... More

The punch house is situated on the main high street. Lots of shops, banks on the doorstep. Given its location in town it is not a super quiet place to stay if you want peace and tranquility. For us the location was great. Our room, room 4, was a great size with a four poster bed. Tea/coffee facilities. The bathroom... More

Recently refurbished to an excellent standard but let down at breakfast when the guests from a nearby hotel shared the facility as their kitchen was undergoing refurb. We had not been advised this was happening so waited 1.5 hours for a nicely cooked but tiny "full" breakfast. I imagine the chef had run out of food to cook. Otherwise a... More
