I booked 8 rooms for 16 of us travelling back from seeing Leeds utd play at Cardiff city. We arrived around 6pm and found the check in very smooth. The man on reception did an excellent job. The rooms were spotless and we were all soon down in the bar enjoying a wide range of drinks. We all had varying... More

This was my first stay in a Weatherspoons hotel. Because these hotels are I presume used mostly by revellers and large groups I wasn't expecting high standards. I was quite surprised, the setting / location is very good right in the centre of town. The small reception was efficient and the guy looked after our large group quickly and politely.... More

Have stayed here previously visiting family. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms very comfy....even the pillows were easy to sleep on!!!!! Our room overlooked the square and would ask for that again. True they need a refurb but the manager told us that they will be closed a month in order to do this in the New Year!!!!... More

Not luxurious, but decent value, especially the double rooms. My single was on the top floor, under the eaves, with bed tucked behind a wooden beam and a quite romantic as a result. Shower was pretty feeble (presumably because on top floor) but new and plenty hot enough. Decent sized desk in room and good wifi Receptionist really helpful, as... More

Despite being reasonably priced, staying here was a rather disappointing experience. The pub was great - normal Wetherspoon's food, drinks and prices with friendly staff. The accommodation on the other hand desperately needs a refurbishment. Our room and furniture was shabby! The bed - hard, pillows - old & lumpy, room lights so "low level" we were unable to read... Our first stay in a Wetherspoons hotel and we were pleasantly surprised at the standard and comfort of the rooms.,complete with loads of tea, coffee and yummy biscuits.Soft fluffy towels and a nice comfy bed. Staff friendly and helpful. Adjoining Wetherspoons provided their usual food and a nice breakfast. Only downside is that it is a town hotel and as... More

The prospect of spending a night in a Wetherspoons hotel would terrify anyone and I approached this with trepidation. However, I can't knock the Kings Head. An efficiently run, clean and friendly hotel in the centre of a charming town and a steal at just £37 for the room. Had a couple of beers in the adjoining Wetherspoons pub with... More

Had higher expectations of this Wetherspoons hotel. On arrival by car took us a while to sort out parking and eventually found free parking at bottom of main street (over bridge turn right) and also one for just £3.50 for 24 hours. A bit of a walk back to hotel but good exercise. On arrival at hotel, friendly receptionist welcomed... More

Hotel centrally located. Rooms are next door to the Wetherspoon's Pub - cheap beer and food - busy Hotel room was dusty - toilet roll holders caked in dust inside, dust between carpets and skirting boards. Bed was terribly soft and needed replacing, bathroom was basic but functional, no breakfast - had to go next door to the pub -... More
