We went to look at a couple of rooms here, they were so depressing we didn't stay. The twin made me feel claustrophobic and the double overlooked air conditioners at back on the roof. the whole place needs a thorough refurb. So we declined and stayed at The Punch House over the road, I am so glad we did.

A great hotel, must be the gem of Weatherspoons. Pleasant single room facing Agincourt Square. A lovely room with new shower room on top floor.. Tea and coffee making facilities, and modern flat screen TV. Excellent food served from about 7.00am. Special thanks to Amanda and Craig for their help at reception. Great shops adjacent, and museums and historical sites... More

We spent two nights here in early August. It is right in centre of town, room was clean and comfortable and service was friendly. Shower was good and towels and toiletries were also good. The huge pub downstairs was very pleasant with lots of different areas. We paid £35 for a double on Sunday night and more, £59, on a... More

Called in for a bit of tea or dinner if you prefer, Typical wetherspoons menu in a really nice setting. Nothing special food wise but if you like old buildings and huge book shelves you'll like it. Plenty of history hanging on the walls and really nice on the outside.

Catered for a party of 14. Strange layout winding corridors up and down stairs but no real problem. No air con but a fan provided. Overall a pleasant enough stay. This was for 1 night only. If i was staying for a longer period i think i may be looking for something else.

The rooms have all you need and they are always clean and tidy. The staff and very pleasant and breakfast is to a decent standard. The meals in the evening are not great but you get what you pay for, so no real complaints.

This was the second time of staying here for us because of its excellent central location. We were on the third floor which was not easily accessible as the lift only goes two flights and stairways are awkward. The room and walk in shower were fine and clean, but it was a tight squeeze in front of washbasin! Outside there... More

Yes, really. I was woken up at 4am with the loud noise of a vacuum cleaner, people shouting and bashing around. I dressed and went to find the culprit. The cleaners in the bar area informed me none too politely that it was the only time they could do it. The manager was summoned, and he settled matters down with... More
