I spent 1 night here in the annex behind the hotel. The room was nice and clean and cosy warm! I had no complaints, I enjoyed my stay. The bathroom even had a bath aswell! I would stay again if I am ever in the area again.

Didn't stay in the hotel, but it looked very nice. The public bar is comfy and they do a lot of food. Always coming out with dinners. We never eat in there but the food did look good. Empty plates tells a tale. The beer garden is one big sun trap and it backs onto an Indian restaurant, so you... More

I spent a night together with a whole party of relations for my sister's funeral on April 6th. The room was fine, I was dead tired after a horrific 48 hour trip to get there so happy to flop into a comfy bed. Unfortunately there was no water in the hot tap , I was too tired to ask for... More

We needed a place at late notice and found this online. We were in the annex which was clean and cozy with a superb view of the castle. Nice to have bath rather than a shower. Staff friendly and efficient. Good value.

If you want flowery carpets, flowery wallpaper ,and dated rooms then this is the place for you. Also floating fried eggs, hard hash browns, and holey toast, then you have found your ideal place. Very disappointed needs a big update. No wifi in room.

Myself and 2 friends based ourselves out of here, while exploring Snowdonia on our motorbikes. It's not a flashy hotel, but was perfect for us; good food (promptly served), comfortable warm rooms with baths and no shortage of hot water, a bar, and decent parking. Wifi was flakey at first, but the system was replaced while we were there and... More

Just to remark on Sue's review, we had the same experience while having Sunday lunch in the bar last October, I complained about the bad language & the staff apologized, sad to see it is still happening, the food was good though

Horrible night sleep, over prized hotel for its quality. Never stay in room 23: so small and uncomfortable 'double' bed. Im 5ft 7 and my feet where outside the bed. Wifi in room depends on the area you are in. Cute little town and nice views from the hotel.

Hi and thank you for reviewing the Lion Hotel. We appreciate constructive criticism but on this occasion would point out that a standard double bed is the same everywhere. I had thought I had addressed your disappointment with a standard double bed for your second night as I suggested that I organise a twin-link room which offers a super Kingsize... More

Friendly staff, room and meals adequate, good location. We were given a room in the "annex" where the rooms are "compact and bijou" There is on site hotel parking. On the hole we enjoyed our stay at The Lion

I had a wonderful stay in a room that was furnished in antique furniture, and had just been refurbished, I loved it. The view from my room was spectacular I could see the castle all lit up. The Lion was very close to the sea and shops. It is perfect for our walking holiday. The staff were courteous and the... More
