This Hotel and its staff is head and shoulders above most in the area. The staff can not be faulted. The rooms were clean and well presented. The food was excellent. The bar area and reception area were lovely. We had a great stay.

The Lion Hotel is a great place to stay. Close to the sea and shops. We spent four nights in a clean, comfortable en-suite room. The hotel is very, very clean and nicely decorated and furnished. The restaurant offers a superb variety of food which is beautifully cooked, attractively presented. and always hot. The staff were all very friendly and... More

Maybe it was 3 star but will it keep it, not sure about that. Our room was cold and not surprising as the main window which had been screwed shut had massive gaps which I had to use toilet paper to stop the wind blowing in, this is bad maintenance. 2 of the light bulbs had gone and I had... More

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel. Twin room (14) was Ok. Comfortable beds and nicely furnished. The breakfast is self service and a very good selection of cereals, fresh fruit, etc. etc. We found the young staff very friendly and helpful. The evening meals were very good with unusual starters and desserts. Plenty meat and vegetables... More

Our coach party travelled from South East England on a Grand Coastal Tour of Wales. The first night of our 3-night stay was marred by bar/kitchen staff with raised raucous voices and rattling of empty bottles at 11.45 p.m. beneath our bedroom window. I was forced to get up and complain at the noise and that we needed some rest... More

Stayed at the Lion hotel for 2 nights to attend a friends wedding. 1st impressions of the hotel was that it could do with a little tlc. Our room was spacious enough and we had lovely views from our 2 windows but unfortunately the decor needed modernising. The bathroom was lovely and modern so I think work is in progress.... More

I was on a coach Holiday up from Plymouth for 5 days staying at this hotel. The hotel was in a good location.Very disappointed with hotel annex room 43 to cramped could not drink the water in room bed to big for room upstairs floor boards creaking .Every thing else at the hotel was very good.

Stayed 2 nights in this hotel in the centre of town. Our room was outside the main hotel adjacent to the car park. The room was small and as others have said in need of some TLC. The main income for the hotel seems to be coach parties containing senior citizens which really sets the scene. On one night there... More

An old picturesque coaching inn built in the first half of the eighteenth century, which clearly enjoyed a certain good reputation in the good old days and capitalized on it, but would not be able compete with more modern hotels and B&B in a place other than Criccieth, which is a tourist centre predominantly for pensioners. Our room was clean... More

I stayed for three nights with seventeen fellow golfers as a base camp for rounds of golf in the area. The hotel is fairly average and a little tatty in places but it was clean and comfortable and the staff were all helpful and friendly (with one exception when we tried to reserve an area of the bar to eat)....
