My son and daughter arranged this surprise week-end so we could celebrate my "Big O" birthday. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, and my son's had a separate lounge which was very useful so we could relax there on our own. They had brought a birthday cake which we enjoyed with our cups of tea, and celebrated with champagne. Their... More

I stayed here for one, mid-week, night, and didn't want to leave. The village is on an old drovers' road high in the Welsh hills, in a Welsh speaking rural community, but close to the border. Spectacular scenery as I arrived and there must be wonderful walking to every direction. Even though I was late arriving the chef had waited... More

We visited this wonderful, centuries old pub, for the first time, with friends who were regular visitors. Martin and Gaynor, the proprietors, were welcoming and friendly, an attitude true of all staff. The local (terrific!) beers, wonderful menu and convivial friendly atmosphere, confirmed exactly what our friends had said of The Hand. The rooms were well equipped, clean and comfortable.... More

Stayed here a few times as we have family who live in the village. The hosts are very hospitable and the staff are always friendly whenever we stay. The rooms are clean and spacious and the food is always lovely, offering a good choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Agroup of 15 friends with classic cars stayed for two nights amongst these lovely welsh hills, great driving and a hotel that could not be faulted for service or food. As a foodie person I was impressed, with the choice of menu and the quality of the dinners and the breakfasts. Everyone enjoyed the stay.

We went to this pub, after a walk over the Wayfarer's Path, well ready for a pint. We entered the bar and waited; we then waited some more. There was no-one behind the bar. Another would-be customer joined us; after waiting some more, we went over to the West Arms, were served promptly and sat out in the attractive garden.... More

On arrival was greeted by one of the owners and she was lovely, really busy but took time out to show me where the local attractions were, nothing was too much trouble. A table was automatically booked for me for the evening in the restaurant. We didn't return to the hotel until 6pm and checked in and was warned about... More

it does feel like the middle of nowhere but that is perfect for me! Welcome was very warm and the atmosphere was relaxed. food was excellent and portions were big. Our room was comfortable, though fairly small with a clean, well- stocked bathroom . Only minor quibble was that the mattress- topper was smaller than the bed ( however it... More

Coming from South Wales, my family and I are very proud of the high standards of hospitality which our fellow countrymen extend to visitors to our region. "We'll keep a welcome in the hillsides!". No such welcome, it would appear, in the hillsides of North Wales! This pub is way off the beaten track, down very many miles of tortuous... More
