For the 3rd year in a row in winter, I stayed at Cobdens with friends from Cheltenham. It is situated in a good central location for walking and exploring the Welsh mountains either straight from the door or drive further afield. Yes there are two pubs close by if you really want a change, but after a days walking, we... More

Feel sorry for all those moaner's who didn't like Cobden's! First of all the staff are all great from Emily to Calvin to Roland the owner. Good points - Full of character, beautiful photo's and prints of Kili and Everest base camp dotted all over the place. Enjoyed the food.........steak and lamb burger and breakfast all demolished. The beer is... More

We had booked this hotel for part of our summer holiday, unfortunately without reading through all these reviews.... Although this hotel is in a great area for walking, opposite a foot bridge over a river and has much potential - it is in need of work. We did not stay longer than 3 hours, left and sought accommodation (successfully) elsewhere.... More

We selected the hotel for an annual reunion of 4 friends. One couldn`t make it at the very last moment and the hotel was exceptionally tolerant in charging him a modest cancellation fee.The remaining three had separate rooms (two singles and a twin). The accommodation was fairly basic, but warm and comfortable.Certainly much better than many hotels I`ve stayed at during ski holidays.... We had spent a few days in North Wales “doing” the Steam Railways. My husband often spoke of his younger days when he was climbing and walking in the Snowdonia area, and the enjoyable evenings spent in the Cobdens bars, so we decided to spend our last night there (a trip down memory lane). We booked our room a few... More

My friend and I stayed in a twin room on the second floor , whilst doing the 14 peaks challenge . We only needed the room for a few hours each night as we left at 5.30am each day to climb our mountains. The beds were comfortable and the towels were fluffy , but there was little else to recommend... More

A hotel with lots of original features and quirky rooms. The food was very appetising both at breakfast and in the bar. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were bright, clean and warm. There was a good selection of drinks both non alcoholic and alcoholic, including an ale made for the hotel. The bar with the moutainous feature... More

We stopped here for some dinner on a bank holiday weekend. The places we tried in Betws-y-Coed were fully booked, and we came to Capel Curig to try another place we knew which was also full. Driving past this place we noticed the car park wasn't as full so we called in. They could seat us in the bar (where... More
