For £32 including a superb brekkie, you're not going to get the Ritz. But this Victorian hotel is brilliantly placed for walking in Snowdonia, and excellent vfm. The evening menu is good too, and we ended up eating there on both nights of our stay. There are parlour games available, a surprisingly busy bar, and they'll do packed lunches for... More

OK, so I know the hotel won't win any big prizes, but for £37 a night including breakfast - what do people expect? Our room was clean and tidy and the beer and the food were great. We would have liked to have been able to have either breakfast earlier than 8 or have a continental one left for us... More

I have just spent 3 nights at Cobdens hotel in North Wales. It's an ideal location for exploring the countryside and mountains. You do need a car to get around. Plenty of parking space at the side of the hotel and opposite across the main road. The hotel was in its prime about 25 years ago but it is still... More

I can't deny that the hotel could do with a bit of a spruce! ..... But it is a very old. Utilising that just needs a little tlc. We stay here 3 or 4 times a year, it is situated in a beautiful part of Wales the staff are very friendly and would so anything for you to ensure you... More

The Cobden Hotel certainly does need some time, attention and cash spent on the internal decoration and fixtures and fittings. But look past this. The welcome is warm and friendly and the staff are great. Me and my other half slept well, ate well and drank well. We had all we needed in our bedroom to sleep, shower etc, even... More

This may be a two star hotel but it is by far the worst one I have stayed in!! The room was vary dated and in need of redecorating, the en-suite bathroom consisted of a toilet, shower and basin. The toilet didn't flush away very well, the shower tray was held together with gaffa tape and on the last morning... More

We booked in for three nights to go walking,to say the rooms are basic is being kind, there is nowhere to put any clothes, no drying facilities and the beds are are extremely uncomfortable with very limited bed clothes. The room was not properly cleaned and the windows ran with water. The drains were backing up and the shower fell... More

First off - this IS a 2-star hotel, but having said that, the furnishings are simple, humble but tasteful, as is the decor. The bedlinen is clean and crisp, of hotel quality and well-laundered. If I were to be really picky I could suggest that at little outlay, mattress covers would make the beds a lot more cosy than just... More

Stayed with some friend s for one night after completing the 3 Peaks Challenge. Just wanted a hot shower, some beer, a meal and a comfortable clean bed. This hotel provided the lot plus a great breakfast. It is only a two star hotel but it is a good two star hotel.
