Our student writing travel program spent one night here. The first thing we noticed as we came in was that there were dirty sheets on several beds that the staff had to quickly remove. The "clean" sheets we then set up were stained. We looked through the drawers and found a pair of used false eyelashes. Next we went to... More

The staff is friendly, but the access is really bad. That's not the hostels fault tho, because public transportation sucks in Memphis. Also, be prepared to do some house chores. Every morning they will pick one up for you. That's quite alright, but doesn't seem to fit with the price they're charging. It's more expensive than my hostel in NYC.

This place is the only hostel located in Memphis but in hindsight we should have looked at motels / inns as other options since this hostel was average.. And that's putting it lightly. My friend and I have been to many hostels around the States and this is the first one where people are made to do chores! I know... More

The hostel seems to be in a hip, yet safe, area with lots of bars and shops around and about 10 minutes away from the city center. There was ample parking in the back lot. There weren't any locks on the doors to the rooms, but they did have some lockers. They have a very cozy common room and WiFi... More

Great hostel with a very homely feel. Located in a nice part of town near bars and cafes. The staff are great. It's one of the better hostels that I've stayed at in the US. You'll need a car if you want to stay here as it's a bit of a hike (10 min. drive) to the city's attractions.

This hostel is definitely everything one should expect from a hostel. Security is good (must have a code to come into the building) and you are able to rent a room if privacy is your thing. Parking is free, which was a huge plus for us considering we were stopping by on a road trip. It's also located down the... More

It's not like you have any alternative if you're looking for a hostel in Memphis, since it's the only one. Bathrooms are OK. Beds are big. Upon checking in you have to agree to the rules which as I later found out forbid drinking alcohol (and silence after 11pm). I was kindly asked to finish my beer outside. Kitchen is... More

Having just completed a cross-country trip during which I stayed in hostels for the first time in my life, I can only say that Pilgrim House sets the bar high. The resident assistants live on site, which means they have a personal stake in seeing that the place is clean, safe and comfortable. Great neighborhood in the Cooper Young area,... More

The staff are super friendly, the hostel has everything you need. you should not let the daily chore deter you, its very very easy. The beds were really comfortable. the kitchen is huge. Also you shouldn't be worried about not being allowed alcohol, there is a bar around the corner.

This hostel was perfectly nice, very good price for what it's worth. The hostel has a strange chore system where you leave a small deposit and do a chore a day such as cleaning the barstools in the kitchen, otherwise you don't get your deposit when you leave. Bit silly but hey, what can you do. The bathrooms are private... More
