We were in a group of 10 men, and did not receive a very warm welcome. Appreciate Fiona's concerns about rowdy stag do's but we should not all be tarred with the same brush. Would recommend staying elsewhere if you are a large group of males and don't want to worry about being thrown out. The bunkhouse itself was clean... More

This was my very first hostelling experience, and – Wow! - it couldn't have been any better. We were greeted by very friendly Fiona, and shown to our dormitory. My bed was very comfortable, and I slept well throughout my stay – even when a loud snorer joined us for one night (thank goodness for earplugs!) The kitchen was well... More

We've stayed for 3 nights having got the ferry from Mallaig. Must be a very welcome sight to those who arrive under their own steam after a long and strenuous walk through this wild, remote and special landscape. The hostel is clean, well-equipped and obviously cared for by Fiona, the smiling, singing, welcoming warden. Hot showers, excellent drying room, orderly... More

Friendly staff (Fiona), very welcoming to this lovely bunkhouse. It has everything you could want, and is tranquil and relaxing, a great place to finish a long walk in. They also took in a parcel for me. Facilities are second to none, I cannot think of anything I would change, except plan to stay longer!

Really enjoyed our stay in this cosy, clear and well specified bunkhouse. Manager is great and very friendly. Lounge area really comfortable and good drying facilities when you come off the hill. Showers work which is always welcomed. Will go back.

My brothers and I walked into Knoydart from Glenfinnan, and after 3 days hard walking along some very snowy hill paths (we think we were on the path!), fording rivers, and staying in the lovely (and very well maintained, which I and many others are very grateful for) but somewhat basic bothys, With a dodgy knee, I couldn't resist the... It sounds as though we were your haven after an adventurous walk in to Knoydart - very glad to be of service and well done on such a feat in winter! It's great to hear you enjoyed the Burns supper night and lucky you to be there on one of the main locals' nights of the year. Hopefully see you... More

It is indeed 15 minutes walk from the pier-very pleasant stroll too. Bunkhouse built in old farmhouse and byre so not exactly perfect layout but it does add to the charm of the place. Nice warm sitting room, masses of films (we watched none), plenty of seats etc. Kitchen could do with another cooker plus enough mugs & glasses for... More

My partner and I stayed in September after I had made a couple of day trips to Knoydart during August and earlier in September. Really, I was scouting for my partner, I and eight friends from London. We wanted to stay for ten days, "do some Munroes and Corbetts" and chill out and enjoy the wild, beautiful place that Knoydart... More

Thank you for your positive comments about the Bunkhouse, Fiona and the helpful locals. (I'm sorry this response is so late, but it appears that our original one didn't go through to the site.) I think you are probably referring to Frank with the distinctive moustache - I will pass on your thanks to him and the others you've mentioned!... More

Stayed here for one night after walking from Glenfinnan and planning to get the ferry home the next morning. Welcome hot showers with towels provided, comfy beds with bedding and a great atmosphere with excellent value for money. What more could you ask for? Fiona, the warden, was very helpful and friendly and it was just a shame that we... More

We're so glad you enjoyed the hot showers after your long walk in to Knoydart; it's the least you deserved after that feat! Fiona loves to welcome folk - come back and stay longer next time ;-) More

Stayed for 2 nights as we were climbing some hills in the area, this is a great bunk house, clean and warm with hot showers, good drying room that really does dry your wet gear and the staff are very nice and helpful. Good range of pots, pans and cooking utensils which many hostels lack, loved the Port Meirion crockery.... More

Thank you for your comments. We added the drying room last year and it has been a huge hit! It's a must for such notoriously wet walking conditions like those we get on the west coast. And glad to hear you found the kitchen supplies more than adequate - well-travelled staff know about these important things ;-) Fiona and the... More
